The "what have you made today" thread

A simple project but a tricky one when you have shaky hands/arms.

A friend sent up his Trailblazer 44 and asked for some additional padding on the hip belt.

Made in two sections and then joined. Fully detachable with sleeves for each wing, gaps for the webbing to pass through. I tried it myself today with 5-6kg and was impressed with the additional comfort.

About to put zip & old Buffalo hood onto nylon boilersuit from ebay, to make windproof for work & sailing.
Pretty boring, BUT... the material is BLUE PERTEX. Water beads up on it as if it has DWR coating. So could be useful for anyone who wants a similar overall or as source for windshirt/trousers. We have to be resourceful in Global Britain cos we cant buy material from abroad any more.
So, google " d6dan nylon boilersuit ebay uk ". Its cunningly priced £9.99, & post £2.49 . extra. I got 2 more after seeing what came. Claims to have 10 in stock. Look carefully in the pictures & youll see a "Pertex" label sideways on the pocket- its what alerted me.
Sorry no link.

Nice find. Here's a link: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nylon-Overalls-L-XL-XXL-Workwear-Boiler-Suits-Coveralls-NEW-PPE-/184191296390

Besides making you more resourceful, Global Britain also frees you from the tyranny of fashion sense. ;)

That's the old Sheffield Pertex label from the late 90s into early 2000s.

So old stock. Get em while you can.
Yes, it seems thicker than the Pertex used on my old Buffalo "Mountain Coat ", or the hood Ive now actually pinned on.Maybe Pertex 6 ?

120 gr flotation aid. Removed the CO2 cartridge and firing mechanism from an old aviation life jacket and double patched it. Removing the hardware left a 20p coin size hole which I first patched from the inside with 75D TPU nylon and seamgrip and from the outside with 30D TPU nylon and more seamgrip.

This is for still water only and will be used where PFDs are not compulsory. This is to an approved PFD what microspikes or instep crampons are to full blown crampons: a bit of extra security for peace of mind but not an excuse to go where you shouldn't be going without the real thing.
