Tell us more...Dont bother I'm waiting on the sub 800g solo new design coming out in May...
It's a lot like the DD Xmid, but hexagon instead of a rectangle.
Not really. Apart from diagonal ridgeline. as Dan was at pains to point out when people suggested the Xmid was a lot like the Stratospire.
And the latter was out years before.
Incidentally you might want to preface the Xmid with something other than DD.
I keep thinking you are talking about DD Tents (which are poor )
Have Tarptent posted something about this new sub 800g design - seems like this is general knowledge? Or have I misconstrued the thread? It's a lot like the DD Xmid, but hexagon instead of a rectangle.
They've told a lot of people there's a new Li design coming in 2021. I don't know about weights but they said it would be for fans of the Saddle. So maybe something like a Notch 1.5P Li?Have Tarptent posted something about this new sub 800g design - seems like this is general knowledge? Or have I misconstrued the thread?

There are so many fans of the saddle that they discontinued it.
But (IIRC) not of the basic design but more its implication.Dan Durston's review of S2 was pretty brutal.

Though he didn't when he wrote the review. And he was much more positive about the Stratospire.Any reviews from someone who doesnt make their own tents?

That would indicate Saddle Li, wouldn't it?
This is what Henry told me when I queried a while back:
I can say much more other that it easily fit you and another tall person on wide pads and blows away the x-mid for usable volume.
He said they can't do a bigger SS due to width limitations of DCF, but maybe Saddle has a different cut in a way they could make a larger tent with DCF.
By using 4 instead of 2.Interesting. How do you 'blow away' the Xmid for usable space while using hiking poles.

After 140-odd nights our SSLi needed some TLC. The main problem was the fixed length attachment for the inner at the pitch loc corners pulling the stitching.
We (ok my wife) made a double folded new seam in each corner and I over-taped with nice big chunks of sticky back dcf very kindly supplied by @paul of Treadlite gear.
I added linelocks to make the attachment adjustable.
Also did loads of small tape repairs as there are small holes appearing near high-stress areas. Must have doubled the weight of the tent with the amount of tape used .
And finally, we replaced all of the zip pulls, inner and fly.
Good as new...well maybe not, but I think we'll get a few more trips out of it.
Nice to do ones own repairs and mods.
You could save a g by removing all the metal zip pullers and replacing with cord. I do this on all my tents as I don't like jingling zips. That's 12- 16 zip pulls on a Strat!

On the outer or inner, or both?
Just the outer. It's in areas just outside the reinforcing layer at the guy attachments, the top of the pitchlocs and at the apex pole tips. Almost like a pulled thread.
