Working with down

Hey,

not sure if this was covered but I am looking for some "InVivo" experience working with down clusters. Want to move small quantities of stuff into a garment and not sure how to handle it as I cant use vacuum cleaner for that (obsolete two way fan) and its only few grams that I want to move from 200g bag. I do own a letter scale if thats of any use?

Want to avoid soaking down metod as well.

Thanks

If it's only small quantities then you could use a small tube ie loo roll and fill that inside the bag of down then insert tube in to what ever is being filled and push out with your finger after weighing.
Do it all very slowly in the bath behind shower curtain etc.

What Meadows says.

A slight variation; I've fill a small plastic bag, pushed that it, then pushed the down out.

I usually sit in the bath. Close the bathroom door and make sure the floor is clean - so I can use the down which inevitably escapes and gathers in around the floor.
If you've got a shower curtain over the bath that would be an advantage.
Down will escape - just limit it's opportunities.

I stuff the down by "feel" - does the comartment I'm filling have the sort of amount of filling that I want ??
Weighing it on the scales could just be a "faff" too far.
I clutch a handfull of down tightly inside the supply 'container' and slide my hand out and into the receiving space - basic but it works.

Don't know if you are still interested in the topic but here is how I do it:
It's pretty manual, just few 'tools' to help keep down at bay. I use this box and funnels for at least 5 years, have stuffed numerous small items using it (neck warmers, down jackets, down shorts etc).
Hope this helps)

Are down shorts called Daisy Ducks?

If she clipped the garment on the inside edge of the box she would minimise the amount of "escapee down" even better.
I (it's me in the video) clip it on the inside when the part is small enough to fit. Of course I could have upgraded to bigger box, but it kind of works, the escapees are few and they tend to lend in the box if there is no draft in the room)
At the moment I'm trying to set up a more automated feeling station, with vacuum/leaf blower and eductor tube, to make the process faster and with even less down floating around

I put that post up before watching the later part of your video and deleted it after I saw your explanation of why you put the garment outside.
Sorry I should have waited to see all the video before making the comment.
