Never likely to get there so its lovely to be able read your trip reports and marvel at the beauty in the photos.

Learned that I don’t get out enough and I don’t take enough shelter photos. As always, thanks William.

Having only been to Turkey once, and that being coastal family holiday, I am really surprised at the many different seasonal changes and landscapes, thanks for sharing :)

Such glorious and inspiring photos and scenes. Particularly like the September one where it looks as though God left his giant iron on (while answering the ring at the pearly gates for another UPS delivery) and burnt a hole in the scree, just big enough for you to camp on. But really, all the pictures are great.

A good year indeed and nice pictures as always... Quite admire discipline to take camp pictures (I end up with either plenty or none at all)

We're lucky in that we work a three-day week, although work sometimes impinges on the other days, so we can get out fairly often. Each walk is about a 6 hour trip each way so it's only really worth it for a two night trip.

Everybody's taste is different, I guess, but I like photos with tents in them - people or gear too. And we like to have photos of our camps to inspire us to get up at 3.45 am and head out on another trip.

A seriously impressive collection of wild camping Nirvana pics. I bet you don't have much trouble finding a screensaver or background picture. :)

Camp pics, above all else, transport my maind back in time to the experience.

Indeed. We first camped here on one of our first wild camps in Turkey. We were bginning to think we were in for an uncomfortable night when we came acroos this patch hidden away on a small rise.

Do you ever see other hikers or campers? Are you walking on 'walking trails' or making your own routes across drovers trails and unmarked land? It looks so wild, and wonderful.

We saw hikers on four of these days and other campers on one, all in July and August. We do see plenty of shepherds, though, who are campers too, I suppose; it's not that the mountains are completely empty.
It's mainly walking on herders' tracks and mule tracks, mixed with some mining roads and some making it up as we go along. There are some walkers trails in the Aladağ and Kaçkar, though they usually follow old herders' migration routes and we largely avoid them.

Not before we retire from walking - we like not meeting other hikers :)
Happy to help any trek-liters via private message. Otherwise, Kate Clow's Kackar guide coupled with the German produced Map-verlag Kackar map (available from Bergzeit) open up a lot of mid-July to September opportunities.

Thought that might be the case .
I'm equally protective of my 'favourite get away places' - Assynt 30yrs ago used to be pretty well empty …. now it's been 'found':cry::cry:.
