You'd have thought someone would have ironed it before going to the trouble of making such an artsy fartsy teaser.

My nextdoor neighbor has one of those. As far as I know he's only worn it once on his bike. Said it was like wearing giant bubble wrap. I've not done that myself, so not sure exactly what he meant.

Could be be quite toasty filled with, say, warm custard.

Hmm - maybe technically correct for the weight, but not for the size:

"Weighing just 9oz (260g) Exotogg packs down to the size of a paperback. It provides better insulation than a down or wool layer, but at a fraction of the weight or bulk, and with no animal cruelty."

Thought I give some further feedback on the Pacerpole 3 season overmitts:
Really good for the conditions they're designed for, they keep my fingers comfortably warm to below zero without wearing any gloves & block any wind quite well.
Recently used them at -15C, little wind, without gloves & found that despite moving fairly quickly after 1/2 hr the fingers were getting too cold & had to put on fleece gloves. With gloves on I found the overmitts a little too snug even for my smallish hands; I'll be reverting to the larger (& heavier) neoprene overmitts in the future for these kind of conditions.

The lack of an insulating substrate (like down feathers, for example) means this does pack very small. With careful deflation and rolling, it packs to the size of a tin of beans. A paperback-sized package is actually very easy to achieve.

Ah. Packed volume. I was thinking of when worn as insulation.
