What have you bought?

Montane minimus trousers and a montane plume down mountain cap

Hopefully the plume is as good as the featherlite mountain cap I've been using the last few years, look a right tube wearing it, but it's been great for sleeping headwear, just fancied down this time to supplement a hoodless down jacket

Just found one of these in TK Maxx for £25. Columbia Sweet As II Softshell Hoodie. 380g in XL. "Omni shield". Anyone got any experience of this stuff? I can always take it back if it's rubbish. I'm always a bit worried when sales blurb says things like "articulated elbows". I'm so glad I didn't buy a jacket which didn't permit me to bend my arms....

Measures are approx for mine @Tartanferret I'd say you've found a good 'un
18 x16 flat
12 x 11 seat
12 "Height from floor.
Now to um & ah over wether to buy one and cut the bottom tubes at the bends so I can sink it in if needed :whistling:

This one is 12” high too so might be somewhat similar. Think they do an ORANGE frame too ;);)..

I reckon if you cut the bottoms off it would twist and snap the hinges, rendering it useless.

I toyed with the idea of the minimus trousers many years ago but I think @gixer gave his more than honest review, so scrapped it

I've actually had a pair for a few years, but never worn them... The wife discovered they were long legged and stole them, shes worn them ever since (they're also about 100g heavier than these ones:D) she raves about them and she wears waterproofs a lot more than, often as a layer in the cold rather than wet

OR Peak doesn't work with sunnies early or late in the day (walking straight into the sun) and after about 500kms I have given it up. I can only have the peak or the sunnies on-that is one or the other.
Until...finally found the winner, a nice flat bill sits on the sunnies so I can wear both and block the sun from my eyes with double protection! Lightest mesh and highly breathable.
Oh and @Arne L. the mesh at the back is very soft silky flat nylon, and it stops the Tropic Comfort Hoody from sticking to my head-perfect.
Used last two days 35 degrees, smoke and ash filling the air and 85% humidity. Top of the hood remained dry. UPF can drop on very wet garments.
Would work a charm under a rain coat. The hood will not stick to your head either.
In Winter I will wear my merino beanie over it -what a ripper.

Simond Alpi visor from Decathlon. This is very light and comfortable, with no buckles, Velcro or adjustment whatnots as you have to buy your size. There is an elastic band with very little strech (and thus no pressure) and the label is actually designed to be removed. The visor itself is a stiffish flexible material that will easily be stuffed in a pocket. At 6€, it's a little better value in France than in the UK.

Although described as a summer item, I plan to pair it with a nice thick beanie in winter to have something a bit more modular than a goretex winter cap.

I have a similar one from Buff and it's my fave in hot weather. It's light, packable, blocks the sun a bit, keeps the sweat and hair off the face.

I have a headsweats visor and really liked it. Only used it once though as my hairline was receding too much and I decided I needed a cap.

You can't take your cash with you, might as well enjoy it while you're here.

A pair of Naturehike Ultralight Gaiters. They're silnylon, so not breathable, but on our last trio the bottom of my trousers ended up soaking from the snow with WPB gaiters anyway so I figured it was worth a try with something lighter (100g per pair). I wanted to get 2 pairs but unfortunately I seem to have bought the last pair in Turkey and they don't make them anymore.

I think I have a pair knocking about. I’ll have a look in the morning.
