Does anybody on here have hands on knowledge of grade 2 titanium welding rod ?
I have never used Titanium wire tent pegs but the notion appeals.

Titanium Welding rod can be had for a fraction of proprietary titanium pegs.
I fancied wasting some time diy ing some pegs from it.

The question is are these rods tough, bend resistant. Anybody know.???

Not strong enough for pegs. Too bendy and will snap after a number of re-straightenings. U-shaped hoops are ok for pegging down inners.

You want Ti alloy, 6Al/4V. https://www.neonickel.com/technical...and-the-workhorse-of-commercially-pure-grade/

When I've looked before, you spend not much more on Ti alloy shepherds hooks than the unbent Gr5 rod.

I have some Chinese grade 2 or 4 shepherds hooks and they are OK, fine for groundsheets and cook system supports but nowhere near as good as alloy.

I concur re price of pegs Vs titanium rod -.
It was only because I found a cheap source of weld rod that I resurrected it in my mind.
    Project cancelled !

I have some titanium welding rods (filler for tig). They were quite expensive and as far as I remember they were quite easy to break. I can check tomorrow when I get to work.
