Another vote for the O tom twister, though I've never had to use it on myself yet. The wee westie however....

I walked through there on the 2015 TGO & didn't pick up one.....perhaps the permethrin treatment on the trousers works?

Black nylon Trousers and short gaiters. No treatment .
Caburn ( a TGO regular) was wearing shorts. Dunno how he faired. We sat and ate lunch together on that day, and I didn't see him again to ask.

I don't seem to be troubled by ticks either. I have also noticed midges have much preferred companions to me when we're side by side at some midge-infested spot. Maybe I just smell bad. I suspect the greater awareness of the ills the little ****s can induce is in part responsible for greater attention and reporting - there was a time in living memory when no-one I can remember spoke of ticks at all, which certainly isn't the case now. Some would attribute the greater incidence of reporting as due to global warming leading to an increase in tick numbers - I'm not sure about that one. Something I do avoid is wading through bracken where the things like to live and its easy for them to latch onto a passing food-source. I'm not yet aware of any focus being put on a potential relationship between increased bracken spread and increased tick-bite reports but it wouldn't surprise me if some study reveals it in future.
