When you post a reply on a thread - after clicking [Post Reply] the thread re-appears with your new post but the 'watch/unwatch thread' link shows as 'watch thread' (not 'unwatch thread') even though it would have automatically set your account to watch it from submitting a post. So to get the 'unwatch thread' link you have to exit the thread and the access it again.
Before you click to post your reply, go into 'More Options'. Clicking on the 'Watch this thread ...' box* stops the alerts coming through. You need to do it for each time you post in a thread ~ which is a bit of a pain, to my mind it'd be preferable to click to watch a thread rather than need to cancel the watch each time of posting . * You may need to click on both boxes if posting from your phone.
Can you guys click on Preferences on your name tab next to Inbox and Alerts? In there you should be able to untick Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply... and receive email notifications of replies
Cheers Rich, I'd looked but missed it . Now when going into 'More Options' it's giving me the option to choose to follow the thread ~ much better!
Being a bit (ahem) of a geek I like favicons on my Chrome bookmarks bar - you don't have one for the site. I've made one from the logo - you might have to resize it.....I can't upload it here though as it has an .ico extension
I'll get in touch when I'm home Ed, it's something I want to get in place, I'll have to have a chat with Tony and see how it works though
Would still like a Favicon....don't tell me you've been busy.. Also have I missed a 'go to top of page' button - would make navigation through HUGE trip reports easier..??
We'll get round to the favicon eventually Ed, it's still on the list of things to do when the nights draw in Top of page could be useful, I'm always PC based so just hit the home button, I'll add it to the list
I notice the issue with members posting in the For sale or swaps section who don't have the required 50 posts - it's against the rules but they can still do it.. It's possible to automate that so it's impossible for members to post there until they reach that level - many don't read the rules. You use the Groups feature of the software. Set it so all regular members can't post in that section. Then set an auto group advancement so that members who've reached 50 posts get promoted to a new group that has permissions to post in that section. Saves any misunderstanding, upset members & less admin work. There is also a free add-on that can be set to auto-delete posts in particular sections after X amount of days. That's useful for auto-pruning of old ads. I use it myself in this same situation. More admin time saved. https://xenforo.com/community/resources/auto-delete.3073/
Thanks for that Ross, I'll take a look at that one day. It's fairly easy to keep on top of it at the moment with a small number of members, if it takes off it'll be a useful feature to have in place.
The nights have drawn in 'mate' in fact they are now happily expanding.... it will only take a minute....
I noticed the BCUK favicon started showing today on my laptop at work, not sure why as we haven't done anything I'll see if Tony can drop it onto the server and see what happens
