5 a-side birthday party for friend of youngest cancelled, bit breezy. We're about to pop out.

Looks grim up north...

M11 closed both directions between junctions 10 and 9 due to an Hanger roof about to come off at
Duxford Airport.

Well my little video really does not show the true extent of the lives that were thrown into chaos this morning by flood water. Families carrying kids through flood water in mosses baskets and old ladies not being able to get to their homes as they were flooded, and stranded cars in flood water everywhere ( none of that i felt right in recording). Oh and livestock too.
Glad the farmers turned up when they did or I was going to try to rescue the sheep myself ..

Tried a small bimble on Shingle Street, Suffolk, this morning. An exposed stretch of shingle. I could barely stay upright so scrubbed that after 300m.

In "breaking" news, I've just had a tile shift :( handyman ordered. Thing is I still have several hours to go with winds gusting over 70... This is not going to be fun.

I was out in orford today so just down the road from you
It was a bit blowy, I struggled to stay upright on orford quay so i retired to the pump street bakery for a superb breakfast by the fire :)

Wind was indicating 90 kph on my skywatch when I left but actually felt worse because the gusts were so sudden and it was dropping to zero in between.

Clydesdale - just the usual winter weather - plastic bucket rolling around the garden.
Odd flight up north cancelled and Calmac have gone to ground - but that's not unusual.
More worried about Mon. and Tues. when we're due (a lot of) snow with a wind behind it :wideyed: - but temps not low enough to make it "nice" snow :(.

Same here Cathy, just a little breezier than usual. Two of the guylines on the kids trampoline snapped so it's upside down, they must just have been worn as the weakest line I used held fine.
It did chuck it down from dinner yesterday to early this morning so there are some local floods, areas next to the tweed especially. Definitely too warm for "winter".

What’s it like where you are?

Very windy in SE London at the moment.

Drove back from Oxford to South Cheshire. Strong gusts, but not as bad as I expected. Made sure to avoid caravans and high sided lorries on the motorway. Almost had to stop near Newport (Shropshire) as a heavy downpour reduced visibility to about 30 yards. Some blue sky when I got home, but gales and downpour started again now (5:45pm).

Clyde has broken it's banks around here in various places (the usual spots) - and all the water meadows are 'underwater'. Helps if you don't build on them …..

Kids trampoline - I was forewarned about "flying" trampolines when I got ours (long since dead).
The joints in the poles were all taped together with heavy duty tape and the botton legs were held down with sand bags - nets always came off for winter - it never went anywhere :angelic:.

27 degrees and sunny here in Sussex all day as usual.
Look on the bright side up north, not being able to go out gives you more time to get up the 'loft' and fondle your pigeons.

We had a two hour break in the weather around 15.30 so took the dog out. Now back to gusting wind and some rain.
Not much damage in the area, a few trees down, flying bricks and trampolines.

Tent was dry inside after a few torrential downpours.

Meanwhile in the Netherlands...
The Dutch headwind cycling championship
Cycling against the wind (stormforce) on a very exposed road for 5 miles.

For six long years I cycled to school, first high school (5 miles) then college (10 miles), the wind was always bad.

The dykes are holding but there's a lot of debris flying around.
