Fair enough, though I can't imagine that a week is going to make a difference. From the responses so far, teasers don't seem too popular on this forum, though it may be that it is only the curmudgeons who are bothering to post their preferences.
I don't want to appear to be down on TT - other than in respect to their teasers; a SS Li could be in my future, if shipping via DHL ever becomes a possibility.

I pointed out in a local forum that there are more "rumour" sites about cameras (where people speculate about the next camera coming out including posting snippets of info that often are not true) than backpacking sites.
But maybe it is a different mindset.
(just Google "camera rumour" and you will get the point)

There's a difference between spreading rumours and initiating them.

I find the TT 'teaser' somewhat silly, and it diminishes TT (a little) in my view, but that's just my view, and if the marketing brains at TT think that their business is promoted more than diminished by the use of that tactic, then I suppose that's the way it will be!

Struggling to understand why anyone would care about a tent companies marketing campaign
    What difference does it make?

If you're in the market for a new tent, imagine if you had no idea a new tent was coming out, ordered one then found out this new one was better

We're already 20+ posts deep into talking about a tent we know nothing about, so it's obviously creating some interest
Then when it's released they'll be more posts and more interest

No idea if this has any impact on the amount sold, but it DOES get people talking
In my mind, if that helps a company in any way then why on earth wouldn't they, every bit helps

Is there a single tent being sold that hasn't used previous designs as "inspiration"?
The copy point is a bit nonsensical, especially considering that no one has copied the Li or CF start yet and both have been out for a while

When details finally come out we can all breath a collective sigh of relief...
Just hope it doesn't disappoint and morph into an anticlimax

Its just part of standard marketing, won't work on everyone but it'll get enough people interested so is worth doing.

I dont know franco, it just seems to me that those camera owners are easy targets for the temptation of new gear coming soon lark.A very good percentage of those on the forums ect are just dying to upgrade on specs.ive followed the fuji journey the last few years and they just swoon when new camera is teased or rumoured to be coming out. Not sure shelter lovers get so excited about a new tent coming out. I stopped following the camera forums because i didnt want to be continuingly led around by the nose towards things that are going to be out dated in three years.i just want to see tent manufactures show us what theyve got and thats it really, and not follow same marketing root as cameras, lenses, road and mtn bikes ect ect . It puts me off.

You have illustrated my point well.
You left because you did not like that side but others flock to them. There is even (at least) one site that only reports on rumours from other sites.....
When I was a buyer in the photo trade, every so often I dropped hints on new cameras coming into the two most popular photo forums. (hiding behind an assumed name....)
    Those threads were VERY popular.

    I prefer a walk..
BTW, I had nothing to do with that teaser, mostly I think it has to do with Henry taking a break from tinkering with his tents and playing with his new drone.
It has been a very busy year for TT ( there is a new designer helping Henry nailing some tricky details) and there is more to come.
But I am preparing for 2020, just in case

So the full details on the Tarptent Aeon will be out tomorrow.
Kind of strange because here in Australia it is already tomorrow but I don't see anything new there.

Aeon is now up on the website. A kind of Plexamid with pitchlocs? Or is that being unfair?

    Yes.;)

    Looks loads better.

Plexamid looks fiddly to pitch due to guys and pegtastic.

0.51 oz CF and the door doesn't reach the ground, no thanks

I was thinking more about the widened peak and overlapping doors, rather than the overall merits of the two tents. I assume the fewer pegs (though I read that the Plexamid can be set up with 6 pegs at a minimum) of the Aeon is at least partly down to the pitchlocs.
It's always hard to judge Zpacks tents from their photos because they always seem to be pitched so badly, even on Zpacks website. I don't know why they do that.

Kind of like the look of the Aeon but as usual it'll be way out of my price range.

This is a major advantage of the Aeon : headroom.
This is a 7' tall customer that happened to pass by Nevada City to pick up his new tent a few weeks ago.
Given his height, Henry shot him inside the Aeon (he recovered later on)

another advantage, over some other designs , is that by having those struts you can have a smaller footprint (for the same available room inside) and don't need to use 6 or 8 guylines to keep it up.

Why no pictures of whatever forms the apex?
  21. Franco Darioli

    Franco Darioli Trail Blazer

There are already 16 photos in the product page , I suppose the apex strut was not considered to be all that important, image wise .
It is the same CF strut used for the corners and the middle of the rear panel. (nope.. it's a longer aluminium pole section)
So the pole holds the apex up and the strut spreads it out.
You can sort of see it in this photo

Does look good though, any idea on the RRP @Franco Darioli ?

Ah. So it's a horizontal strut. (unlike the plexamid). The top of the main pole makes the peak.

    Wasn't obvious on first photos.

Sorry that top strut is in aluminium, not the same as the CF struts at the bottom. I saw a photo of it but it is buried somewhere in my E Mails.
BTW, I posted this photo comparison between the Aeon and the Plexamid , given several have commented on that :

Well...... as it's a new central feature I'd have found a pic illuminating....
.... maybe a tantalising 2 second video is more Tarptents forte :angelic:
