Quick question if I may...

I've been offered a Terra nova tent but its has no poles with it. I've checked the Terra Nova site but they doesn't seem to have spares listed for that model.

Would nay one know of a site / shop that can make custom replacement poles ?

Many thanks

In Germany www.extremtextil.de . You would have to find out the length of the poles, and they will recommend you the right stuff incl.caps and cords.Don´t know if they speak English, but have a try.If not, give me a note and I´ll ask for you.

Email Terra Novas contact us - got a quote last year for a snapped pole on an Etesian and they gave me a price -unfortunately for me it was for a full pole set for one snapped section, which sounds ideal for you.

I bought from Aliexpress a set of 2 alluminium poles, each pole measuring 3 meters. Total 6 mts in 8,5 mm diameter for 17€ for my Salewa micra tent.

Already 6 months in Patagonia and Andes Cordillera and they are working pretty well.

Just search for "tent poles" in aliexpress. There are different measures, choose the nearest lenght to the originals and dont hesitate to cut the lenght according to your neccesities.

Terra Nova charge full whack for replacement poles. I had some nicked when on a train in India in 2002 (long story). Me Mam came out to visit for Xmas so i asked her to get me some replacements.I think they charged £110, the whole tent was back then was £230.

Infact i've had alot of problems with them over the 90's - 00's with various tents. Their after sales service was crap.

I stuck with them back then. But after my early Quasar orgasms (my - what a storm proof dome you make) i realised they are fairly clueless as a tent manufacturer.

Ally, would I be correct in presuming that you got the tent on ebay? If so/not, I was watching one without poles and mailed TN asking for details as to replacement pole availability, length specs and to quote a price. Here's what the sent back to me 6 days later and frustratingly, the day after the auction ended:

Hi Dave,

As the tent has been discontinued we no longer have the specific poleset available. there are some compatible poles, these are below.
Back pole - Juipter pole - not currently available £35.00
Front + Centre Pole - Laser Photon 1 pole £70.00
Postage £3.95

The poles would have to be modified to make them compatible with the tent so the order would have to be processed over the phone.
If you wish to proceed please contact 01773833300, option 1.

The person who responded, neglected to give definitive lengths but I'll let them off as for all they knew they'd be responding to a 'tribute' producer.

So all you need is a Jupiter pole and two Laser Photon poles if you can find out the length of those and source them specifically or something similar and you'll be in business. Not too sure if modification means pre-shaping them or sizing them precisely. Maybe if you can source the poles you could ask TN to quote for 'modification' but that might cost a few quid knowing them. But hey, you never know you might get lucky and get a workable set for less than the total they asked me to pay.

Hope this helps and if it was the same auction, atb in getting some poles so that you can get the use of it.
