    Hi guys,
After a bit of advice, I'm looking at buying a couple of pairs ofor merino walking socks.
Make isn't important, price is though, no more than say £10-12 a pair really.
    What does everyone use?

I don't really rate Merino for socks but my other half loves it. I know they are soft n comfy, but I don't really notice it when walking.

I mostly use Bridgedale Woolfusion Trails or Trekkers. I find the Summits too thick, so wear liners as well in winter and/or use waterproof socks. (I mostly wear non-waterproof trail shoes).

I don't use merino much as I find they wear out to quickly. Have had various brands. I'll probably not buy any again. I don't really notice the supposed extra benefits, but then, I'm not fussy -I also wear HJ Indestructible socks a lot too (for work and walking) either these in cooler weather or these in warmer weather(cut down to crew height). More importantly is that the sock fits well.

The guys I spoke to in our local Cotswolds last year said they had never had a pair of woolfusion socks returned, but had all types of merino socks returned.

I use Darn Tough - but not sure if you can get them in the UK. One pair on the CT - 500 miles and slightly worn in just one place.

You can get Darn Tough in the UK.
Probably more expensive than you'd like but if you wear them out you can send them back and get a new pair.

i tend to use synthetic if im wearing my big boots but mostly i wear Teko merino liner socks in my inov8s. Sports direct have them cheap. I agree with mole that they dont last so well. I have lots of teko synthetics and they last really well. Also rate bridgedale and smartwool crew for winter.

Used Bridgedale for years but more impressed by some Brasher 2 seasons I got recently. Although the Bridgedale Coolfusion look good.
With trainers I just use Coolmax liner socks.

That's exactly what I have ordered in the end, 2 pairs of brasher ultra wool socks. 2-3 season ones.
Ordered Tuesday from surf dome, there 24 hour delivery is obviously different to mine but I'm hoping they are here before next weekends trip to Galloway!!

Bit late but I've found X-socks to be very good, I use non merino but there's about a million different pairs to suit all. Also come with a 2 year guarantee

I rate the X-socks too, the Trek Light model. Been my longest lasting pair.

Used my ultra wool socks in the Galloway this week, and iv gotta say that they were superb!! I wore them for a few days each, they didn't smell at all, they dried super quick for wool socks, overall really impressed!!
