Rab upping their game? ..
Interesting, the Rap bag I have used was nowhere near the suggested rating and I sleep pretty warm so it will be interesting to see how these perform.
Is that pack size on the 600 right ? 22 x 51cm seems big, not that I know much about them
Mythic Ultras are here
Mythic Ultra 180 0c - 400g - £550 rrp
Mythic Ultra 360 -8c - 606g - £700 rrp
I wonder if the Thermic Ionic Lining is similar to what Berghaus have been using. Berghaus claim 10% extra warmth and Rab claim 30% so maybe not or maybe...
Seen that, they have this Thermo Ionic Lining Technology which apparently is ti coated nylon fibres that make it 32% warmer than untreated bags by reflected the heat back at your body.
Ahem... type faster
Is the number down weight? If so hope the reflective coating works if your out in -8 with 360g of down.
I thought reflective coatings only worked with an air gap?
I think it is, it is a 900fp & I'd say a very snug fit by looking at them, plus I don't think Rab are generous with their fill no slight overfill to help fill & hold out the baffles imo.
edit: comfort for that one is at -2 with sleep limit at -8
Thermo Ionic Lining.. Is that to do with warm electronically charged particles or the use of Greek orders in the waterproofing at a spa?
360g of good down in a quilt seems (in the us pre using EU standards) get a rating of ~20f/6c at about the same weight. Perhaps the fact it's a bag helps the rating? But I'm talking oranges and apples re ratings.
Perhaps a better comparison would be an ak pd400, comfort limit seems to be -10, they recommend-6. Only 760 fp down though, so perhaps -8 isn't so far off?
For that money... surely they are falling short of the big hitters of the down bag world? PhD? Yeti? To name just two..
