I quite often download casts to listen to while walking and when I am enjoying the views of an evening.

Episode 5 doesn't appear to be downloadable? :(

I’ve been really enjoying the Revolutions podcast (I’m about 20hrs into the French Revolution - it’s season 3). Can be quite dense in places, and I don’t find the presenters attempts at humour very funny at all - but for potentially quite dry history I find it pretty compelling.

@impala I enjoyed the 'were alive' podcast, seems a long time ago when I listed to them. It reminded me of resident evil for some reason. Strong characters

I just heard what I presume was the first one of this series on r4.
Think this is a 10 part series, may not have been released yet.
The last series was short episodes like this woman's hour slot and I don't think it touched the first series.

You could always get bone conducting headphones. Not amazing for music, but apparently ok for talk etc.

Currently listening to... In no order of favouritism...
    Backpacker Radio
    Backpacking & Blisters
    Backpacking Light Podcast
    Further. Faster with Montane
Human Performance Outliers (mostly carni related but featuring endurance or top athletes)
    Becoming Ultra
    Running, Beer and BS
    Runners On Trail
    Stories From The Trail
    The By Land Podcast
    The Outdoors Station
    The Training for Ultra Podcast

They are just the outdoor related ones... Then I've a few with mixed interest.

It is 10 parts and all of them are available to listen online now. They're all downloadable except episode 5, which is probably a mistake; I'm hoping it will be fixed soon.

Enzo, do you need to have listed to S3 to enjoy S4?

Thanks for that......enjoyed the previous series.
Should while away a few hours in the tent during the long Scottish nights.

I’ve come across Sustainable World Radio, which has a ten year ish catalogue of interviews with fascinating guests. Some of it will be pretty airy fairy to folks on here - the host is a bit spiritually inclined which I know can be grating for some - but a lot of the guests are world leading scientists (eg the first episode is with one of my favourite scientists, Paul Stamets, who had advanced the field of mycology tenfold in his career).

Also Stuff You Should Know has an entertaining and varied back catalogue, though sometimes it feels a little superficial. They had an episode on Lyme disease recently which was pretty good. It swings between good research presented in an accessible way, and a fair bit of “banter” between hosts. I mostly find the amusing, but if you weren’t on board with the humour it’d be irritating. I appreciate that they’re quite kind and sympathetic and open minded to whatever the weeks subject is.

    Stamets is a character :)
Quite a bit about him in Michael Pollan's new book on psycadelics, How to change your mind. Recommended.

He is. I find his writing style very endearing, but I wonder if it would be irritating for some. It’s hard not to get swept up in his genuine excitement and passion, which is impressive when you’re reading a dense book about mycelium.

Thanks for the tip, will add it to the list.

You don't, but you'll probably get more out of it if you have, and even more if you've heard S1 to better understand the two main characters and their relationship. But you're in luck as all four series are now again available to listen to or download on the BBC.

    Thanks.
I love S1, but S2 was a bit weird and I never got into it. I may try S3 first.

I haven't listened to S2 yet, though I've now downloaded it so will soon. S3 didn't strike me as any weirder than S1. I'd recommend listening to S3 before S4 now that they're all available, if only so that you know more about the background to the baby.
