Pimp my Mariposa

At long last, I finally got around to modifying my Dyneema Mariposa:

1. Cut two slots (reinforced with a patch cut out from some old gaiters) in the stay channels. Silicone glue and a mini soldering iron were useful here.

2. Sewed two webbing channels which were attached to the belt by the local cobbler (he managed to sew them too far up despite clear yellow markings but thankfully there is enough leeway). Thanks to @Mole for leading the way and providing some useful information.

3. Removed the poxy little waist pockets and replaced them with four anchoring loops so I can attach KS Ultralight pockets if I want to.

5. I didn't need to mess with the bag closing system as mine came with small side-release buckles instead of the shock cord and cord lock thingie. I'm not sure if it came out of the factory like this but I guess it did since I can find to trace of the other annoying system.

My sewing machine has well and truly paid for itself... :D

Good job. You'll definitely feel the difference in load carrying.

That's the lid fastening on the second year iteration of the Dyneema GG packs. They also (thank goodness) changed the webbing type to a less slippy type. Obviously listened to customer feedback.

Unfortunately next range of GG packs I've seen have floppier, slippier webbing again.

My mariposa came with the same closing buckle. Modified mine a couple of years back ,but used new style hip belt . Much more supportive than the old dyneema hip belt
