Probably should do the same myself Martin... we climbed 1100m, ate this and did the 6 miles down the valley in just under two hours.

41°C back home in Antakya, but in the Tatos Mountains in the north-east it was still spring.
Event of the week was turning around from admiring the view and seeing this guy about 20 metres away, fortunately hurtling from us as fast as he/she could.

Yes, first time we've seen one. It must have been coming down the pass as we were going up. The wind was blowing hard down the pass so it wouldn't have smelled or heard us, and the path switched-backed between boulders so it won't have seen us until it was almost on top of us. I'd just stopped to take a photo of Bozena coming up hen we'd chatted for a few moments while admiring the view back down the valley. I turned around to see it making off. I'm glad we didn't see it at the same time as it saw us; I think my heart would have stopped if I'd seen it while it was still coming towards us.

You've quite clearly been doing some walking ...

Your nail polish has worn off,

A shame, as it was such a pretty shade of cerise... :)

A herd of Chamois in the snow. We picked the coldest August day to cross the highest pass and it started snowing at 2500m - and the pass is another 800m up...

Both Ibex and Chamois are plentiful up here and don't seem to mind the cold and snow...

Col Lauson (3299m) coming in sight...

On top of the world... a wintery landscape in August with 12 to 18 inches of fresh powdery snow on the final ascend to the pass. We got microspices but none needed...

High in the Welsh Arans. Hoping the 200g PHD bag is sufficient at 865 meters. It is August after all ! :cold:

The August snow spectacle is already over - none left at 3000m...

Excellent overnight route in the Southern Highlands, good weather - and midges kept at bay by strong breeze on the tops.
