On Flickr, when you have the photo you want to post open click the share button, choose BBcode in the box that opens and copy the url and paste directly into your post. You can edit the url to remove your Flickr name and the photo name.
That's what I did in the end recently. But had to do it on "desktop" view using phone. Share option not there for me on mobile view.
Thanks for the help. One problem I still have will be evident on the TR I just posted as I had to leave in my Flickr name and photo name. If I edit the Flickr URL to remove my name, the rest of the text below then turns into a live link. I tried different ways of removing the URL, doing it first then carrying on writing, or pasting the link between existing text and then editing it but still kept getting the same problem.
You should get a BB code something like this (but with extra text at the start and in the middle): "2335965_604716c0a3_k./flic.kr/p/27H8PLz]DSC01708[/url] by//www.flickr.com/photos/8630990@N02/]wilb, on Flickr If you edit out the green and blue text it will remove your name but leave the photo name. If you edit out the purple text, it will remove the photo name. Don't edit out the "[/url]" in between or it will add a hyperlink.
Suddenly I can no longer post a picture, 'the upload a file' has disappeared (tho its visible on this thread). I use an ipad so 'insert URL is not an option).
Please ignore this post - I'm just testing embedding pictures from Google photos. (view from Bheinn Bhan in Applecross, if it works and anyone's interested!)
can you see any of my images above? I'd been right-clicking on an individual image and copying the image address. Seemed fine on my laptop but then didn't come through on the phone. Tried again today and the image addresses are different!?! but seem now to work on both phone and laptop. 2 differences: a) day of the week b) first time I was working with a browser window full size; second time browser wasn't full screen. that ctrlq tool looks much nicer!
When you first put them up I could see only the last 3. I cannot see any of them now. PS. safari on laptop.
does google have some time-dependent deletion of direct links JKM's tool result: requires specifying the width of the photo. Defaults to 2400 pixels which is a bit big.
Your last post does show the photo. My post above also used the ctrlq.org tool to generate the URL and seems to have worked, both initially and in the long term - I guess I'll try that method in future.
well, a bit of Googling and I found suggestions that Google deliberately changes the direct image URLs of individual photos over time (a few days or less). So trying to host photos on Google Photos to embed on another service is futile. I'm not convinced that the ctrlq tool will solve this. At least this might explain why my images have appeared/disappeared. Maybe shouldn't have been such a cheap-skate and paid for Flickr Pro @Shewie would you be kind enough to delete my attempt at a death valley trip report until I figure out where i'll host the photos, please?
Will do I’ll do a temporary delete if you like so you can go back into it and just edit the photos when you’re ready, just give me a shout and I’ll make it visible again for you
