As the title hints at, I'm getting a little frustrated trying to post photos in posts, can someone please talk me through it like I'm stupid?

    Thanks,

    Shaggy "the gifted one" stu.

Thanks for that Paul, I knew there'd be something like that somewhere but couldn't find it.

Hi shaggy stu; I managed posting pics finally after Shewie changed the photo sizes.
Used Photobucket and if a dullard like me can do it, then anyone can

Thanks, I managed to work it out in the end, had to go to the web version of Flickr, still can't work out how to upload through the android app, but yeah, dullard :)

I tried using Flickr to upload some photos but the options I was offered to share photos were limited to a menu of the more well known social media platforms. I'm using a laptop running Firefox. Any ideas?

yep flikr only seems to offer those options. photobucket is so much easier to use and works like a charm

Not sure what is going on there, on my Flickr account - log into the website (I don't use the app to share), click on the photo you want to post, click on the share photo arrow/icon, select size, then BBCode, copy, paste it directly into the post, delete the bits either side of the [ img ] tags, post, admire handiwork :)

I'm linking images from Flickr. It's really quick and simple.

On my android phone using chrome and opening images in the photostream, press and hold image until you get a menu; select 'open image' (opens image alone in new tab with a URL that has a .jpg extension ); copy that URL; paste URL into the Image box on here ( then click' insert'):

Testing, I've found the BBcode option on Flickr now ... using Mole's method but doesn't seen to work.

Davy, I'm not sure what you mean about deleting some of the text, which bits are you left with when you do that?

To clarify, (this is the first time I've used Flickr), my photos are in Camera Roll. I double click a photo and it opens in a separate window where I select "ALPHA view on photo page"

    upload_2016-9-5_14-38-43.png

which brings up another window (but not with a .jpg extension) with an option to share that include BBcode:

    The code is:
    upload_2016-9-5_14-38-43.png
[IMG]DSCN0024 by Stuart 65, on Flickr

plus an option to select size. I pasted this code into the Insert box on here, inserted but obviously it didn't work.

Oh, my photo appeared! Sorry about this!! Looks like I can do it now! Thanks, here's another nice picture of the River Liza in Ennerdale!

It seems they've dicked around with it again since the last time I linked from Flickr using a pc .

(on a pc) The way I can get the image URL, is to view the photos in an album, then left click the download icon (bottom left of screen), right click the size image you want, and select 'copy link address'. Paste that address into the image link box.

Or just copy the BBcode in the size you want straight into the message, rather than using the image button

I did as Shewie suggested, which worked. Finding the BBcode was the tricky bit!

I can't get flickr to link pics at all from either phone or android tablet - even when I make them public, I get the http link but no picture in the post, can't get BBcode.. works fine from a pc using BBcode... anyone else find this?

They probably don't have that feature enabled for mobile devices Ade, maybe it's too messy not sure

Apart from my last post in this thread, all other images of mine I've linked to, are using my android phone and flicker as described above.

It's a simpler operation than on the pc.

Are you using the app or through the chrome browser?
  23. Mole

    Mole Thru Hiker

chrome. I only use apps if unavoidable/optimal, as I quite often find them limiting with certain sites compared to using a browser. Browser allows multiple tabs for instance.

It's been a while since I posted a photo and now I can't seem to get it to work when I try to insert something from Flickr, on a laptop.

Can someone take pity on me and walk me through this please?

    @Stuart
Select a shot on Flickr, select the share option, copy URL, paste URL into your post. If you click the insert picture link on here, it won't work. Just past the URL in and you should be good to go. :)
