Too make a more solid A frame with my 3 piece alloy pacers . If I bought the long carbon 16mm section and cut off the taper end .. would I be able to fit my flick locks again ? Would you do same mod to the end of the carbon pole ,as in cut the slot in to allow clamp to compress it ?

I'm pretty sure that fitting a flicklock to the end of CF tube would significantly reduce it's strength.

Do carbon poles use a different method for flicklocks? The ones on my Komperdells are very different to my BDs but I've never actually dismantled them.

Dunno about black diamond etc, but the Flicklock type clamp on the cheap Karrimor carbon(and fibreglass) poles I dismantled works as a standalone tubular clamp sleeved over the end of each pole tube section. I.e the tube itself is not part of the clamping mechanism

Ok so I guess it won’t work so well.. it wud have been pacer alloy handle section then the carbon mid section into that then the alloy bottom section, think it is the BD locks I got .. the ones from needle sports .. I just read the mod report and copied that .. been perfect for last 18 mth or so .. Ta info
