Yup, I had to delete the app and reinstall and it’s still sheheight! I have reverted to ViewRanger.
I've been using it for years now
Haven't checked it for a month or so , but just fired up the app and had a look at some new areas.
Seems to be the same as before. Its always had a few issues zooming in and out with pinching at the overview but scrolls fine still. Zoomed in at the scale I want, its working fine.
I comparison to Norgeskart, which I've been looking at for a month, OS maps are fantastic and look so much better. Their zooming is better though from the overview.
Just received this mass email and I think that it is a pretty classy move from OS. It's always refreshing to see a company apologise.

In our eagerness to release the new version of the OS Maps mobile app, we now realise we haven’t got everything perfect.
These updates were necessary to cope with the increased demand on the app, but we also know this has led to a frustrating time for some of you – particularly those of you who have digital versions of paper maps.
Rest assured that we are working hard to improve things to provide you with the best possible service. If you have been affected, we are sorry.
What’s a ‘differt’ map type?
The app has decided I need to download the dugital version of my paper maps again. It is being slow doing it despite my 'net connection being ok.
Some friends that use it seem to have access to the entire UK 1:25 and 1:50 now. I was offered a free years subscription to stay so maybe they are rolling free subs out?
I've already moved everything over to Viewranger and been getting to grips with the app and online tools. Simple enough and other than not being able to print has everythibg I used on OS
My subscription appears to be the same as before.
They keep pushing updates, have a strong feeling that version 2.0 was nowhere near ready for prime time. Will need to check my routes and see if they are still there.
Agreed, the first build that I had issues with was 18.104.22.168a. it's been a long time since I've done any testing but an a before or after a build number used to stand for alpha and a b, beta.
I would not be surprised if what we all got initially was an alpha release as they cannot of tested the release else the bugs would have been identified.
It'd be bad enough if the let a beta out to use customers as bug testers but an alpha would be utterly irresponsible.
Heh... just had an email from the OS titled "Sorry". They're still fixing bugs.
Me too. I hope that they learn the lesson.
I hope their spelling improves too.
Uninstalled and reinstalled on my phone, seems okay...
You'll be getting a job as an Apple Genius next. After trun it off fully and turn it back on again that is their main advice
It worked okay till yesterday, then I got nothing out of it, just an error message, so simply tried uninstal-reinstall and it seems okay...
My phone is android btw.
I have other apps as back up anyway.
Hopefully they can sort it all out.
I have showed them the error of their ways. I eggspect they’ll reward me with free maps now.
Apparently is messed up again with maps on an angle now and routes crashing lol
The best thing for them to do would be to pull version 2 all together, force users back to a stable version 1.x and sort out the issues before pushing a buggy update out again.
This from a mate. All maps are now at a angle. None of his routes work as the app crashes as soon as he selects one.....
I had the squiffy maps initially but I can load routes and then sometimes, but not always, the map lines up squarely.
Has anyone found out why the maps are at an angle on phones. I re-installed my app and now all of my maps are not straight.
[added] Found my own answer:
"6. Why are some gridlines not displaying as straight?
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix which we hope to release shortly."
I’ve just reloaded the app and downloaded OL28... they’ve given me full U.K. 1:25000 coverage
Both on and offline? They seem to have allowed full UK coverage online with my paid account but I'm not sure about the free one.
Ahhh... now then, as far as I can recall I’ve never been able to access the maps without using data. Disconnecting WiFi at the moment and I can’t access the apparent ‘off line maps’ I assume I should be able to?
If they say they're offline you should be able to get them. I currently only have copies of the paper maps I bought downloaded. Will try later with routes.
EDIT: Got offline route maps, they do take a fair bit of time changing resolution.
Yup I totally get the ‘offline’ thing but... they’re not
