Singing this, this morning walking on the beach as the sun rose.
Love it, saw him many years ago at Glastonbury in the early years of the festival, how things change. Thanks for making my day.
For some reason I always seem to find "16 shells from a 30-ought six" going through my head on a walk.
Saw Waits live on tv in 1979 in Melbourne. Went out and got Heart attack and Vine. If you really want a blast search "Tom Waits Melbourne 1979 television Don Lane" youtube live on the piano- smokes, vodka and pure genius.
To be honest "On the Nickel" is the song that comes to me most often.
I walked the Sandstone trail three years ago and I had The Wombles theme tune spinning around my head and driving me mad from Wharton's Lock to No Man's Heath. I realised afterwards that the only reason I got rid of it was because I had to circumnavigate a field full of cows. I was cursing them at the time, but was thankful later.
Great thread! I have a little Shanling M0 for listening. 640mAh battery (15 hours of play) ... 38g .. will play mp3's or FLAC. Won't trash your phone battery. Sounds great too. Takes cards up to 512GB.
Check out the banjo and Horrie Dargie on mouth organ. Just try to avoid singing along...
The kangaroo that can do it all-even salute!
And now the hills will be alive with the sound of "Skippy"
Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee stood on Skippy's slopey little shoulders.
She was the original Ozzie icon.
She deserves it.
The marsupial talent rarely gets the credit due
I do like Courtney Barnet as well though.
Seen her a couple of times live on this side of the globe.
Typing from work.
We have 'Johnny Cash Friday' here every week, many including me, wearing all black in honour of the great man.
Please imagine Johnny singing 'Hurt' (Reznor) or Johnny singing 'Long black veil' (Dill Wilkin) here.
Gosh no, much toooo young to be remembering any of that...
But excited to be seeing Khruangbin at a festival later this year (who are referenced on the same catalogue page)
Dreamy stuff.. One of my fave bands right now .
Courtney's label partner Jen Cloher is worth hearing as well.
I beg your indulgence. It is johnny Cash Friday again. A Kris Kristoffersen song but ...
Just found they're touring here yet again. Seen them twice. We seem to love these scots lads here.
The best sort of love song -both country and western.
Tom does the Peak. Mooches around Ladybower then takes a trip around the place. Got to a point when I forgot about the song and was just crag spotting.
Here is another 'local' band doing Peak wandering too. Great track.
Edit: Already posted vid, Doh
