Ideally I wanted something like the Maxpedition as it has lots of elastic retaining straps to keep things in place but you have reminded me about the Treadlite cuben fibre box pouch that I had another use intended for but would be perfect for this job.

I also use a pair of little sil-nylon box pouches from Paul. One for hygiene/drugs etc and another for electrics, lighting, penknives etc. I easily find stuff without too much rummaging.
Perfect for the job, seem to be hardwearing. I have used mine daily for a couple of years now.

Maxpedition stuff is fine for daily chores but it's a bit heavy.

If yiu really like being super organised perhaps try a MYOG project? An ultralight tool roll type creation perhaps?

After much fruitless searching I decided to follow your advice and go for some Tread lite gear pouches to organise my pack, ended up being rather expensive as I kept seeing more useful things on there but at least I can keep everything organised and save a lot of weight compared to the Maxpedition.

Currently I use these inside an Osprey UL drysack. Could be lighter weight but at least I can see what I'm looking for.
