Klymit Static V - anyone tried one?

Thank you Mole for your speedy response.
I've also been looking at the http://www.klymit.com/insulated-static-v-lite.html light weight version
which appears very good value for a 4.4r mat combined with an overall lightweight
The lite version is basically the same as the Insulated version but with lighter face materials.
As Mole says, it is warmer, but it's designed for use with a sleeping bag (don't know if you use it with a bag or a quilt). With a quilt, we've found that we need 3mm of ccf on top when it dips much below freezing. Like that, we've been fine at minus 10C.
Edited to add: it comes up regularly on Massdrop at very good prices.

Hi WilliamC.
Yes we use sleeping bags, so probably go with the static v lite
I'll take a look at Mass drop. Thank you

@FOX160 the Massdrop x Klymit Static V Ultra Light Pad is back on Massdrop at $50 (potentially) + shipping etc. This is Massdrop's extra light version with a thinner face fabric than the Static V Lite.

but also narrower than the standard version? (width is the reason I wanted them)

Actually lusting after a TAR x-lite/xtherm large these days :arghh:

Though last night I slept comfortably on a 3/4 TAR prolite 3. But being tired after night nav in foul conditions followed several beers at a moorland inn followed by another hours walk back up to camp at 1a.m. meant I'd have probably even successfully slept on CCF.:dead::)

My comment was aimed at Fox160 since I know you already have an Insulated Static V, but I'd forgotten that the Ultra Light is narrow. Good catch.

I'm a little lost as on the Klymit web site, Klymit spec the insulated static V lite to be the same size has their insulated static V :/ But 6mm wider on the Static V2

This is the Static V Ultra Light, which is made especially for Massdrop and isn't on the Klymit website. It's lighter than the Static V Lite.

The Insulated Static V Lite (which is 59 cm wide) is back on Massdrop. It's $65, but unfortunately it's $21.50 for shipping, much more than it used to be.

The Ultralight Insulated Static V (the lightest one and only available from Massdrop) is back on the 16th Feb. This time it is available in three sizes, including an extra wide version like the original Static V.

Anyone have a longer term review on a Klymit static V2? My GF is looking for a new mat, she is side sleeper. if they are any good i might snag one for myself if they are cheap enough.

Been using mine outside of winter for 2 years+ now.

Previous comments still stand:
Used mine twice now. Happy.

Slightly concerned with the amount of moisture that blowing it up by breathe produces, but only cos it can be seen I guess. Decided to try a DIY bag inflator.

The valve nozzle is quite wide, but found that 25mmOD HDPE pipe will fit. (heated to allow moulding over tjhe grooves of the nozzle. A short piece gorilla taped onto a bin liner makes a "schnozzle" type affair. less than one bag of air inflates it.

I may get round to modding a drybag sometime....

I guess you mean the Static V2 mat?

I've used it down to freezing in Glen Coe with an Alpkit Pipedream 400 bag and clothing. It was somewhat cool, but bearable. A younger me would have been fine. Also used ok in Pyrenees where we had ice on the flysheet a couple of times. I guess I'd rate it 2.5 season for UK use.
Since acquired the insulated version. Obviously much warmer as it's 270g of insulation heavier.

Had one puncture, which wasn't repairable in the field, as, due to bad weather, it wasn't possible to dry the mat if I was to submerge it to find the puncture. But once home, I was able to find the leak, dry the mat and repair it with the supplied kit.
( I pinched an old CCF mat from a bothy and used it for the last 3 nights of the trip).

The repair has held in use since.

But, even with an inflator bag, there really is no way to keep moisture from accumulating inside the mat. It's only possible to get rid by warming the mat inflated in the sun and evacuating the air a few times. Most of my trips, this isn't really an option!
My mat has a myriad of various size black mould dots all over it. The insulated version is heading that way too. It seems unavoidable.
I think other brand mats suffer the same, but if the fabric is less translucent, it's not so obvious.
Interesting that klymit recommend blowing the mats up by mouth.

Im considering the static V luxe and then cutting it down and reclosing. Should get it to a reasonable weight with uber wide comfort.

Ive always found amazon.com more value for klymit. You get the final cost when you do the transaction so no mass drop customs surprises

Just found klymits eBay page and they are doing the static v2 refurbed for $40, €32, can get it sent to my “address pal” US address for €12, so €44 all in, not sure I can find one cheaper.

There's a Static V Lightweight in a kind of camouflage (Realtree Xtra) on Amazon for $60.11 delivered to the UK including import fees. It's slightly more than the refurbished but will arrive directly in the UK.
Edited to Add: This appears to be the standard pad, not a lighter version, judging by the given weight in the description.

The Massdrop UL version is 3" narrower than the standard static V2. My main reason for using them is the extra width.

(*and significantly less robust fabrics - hence the weight drop).

Widths can be quite confusing, with at least 4 different width versions on Klymit alone, without the Massdrop versions. The Lite versions are the same width as the standard pads but the Ultralite are narrower.

Right then, 2 Static V2's ordered from the Klymit Ebay page for $80, 65 Euro plus 12 Euro for postage from the States to Ireland via Address pal.

Am i imagining it or was there a discussion on here a while back talking about how to fit a new valve into this type of mat. Im hoping that i might be able to use the end im gonna cut off my static v luxe to make an inflatable back pad and have vague recollections of someone talking about something similar. @Mole seems to be at the forefront of my recollections. Search hasnt helped
