Been using mine outside of winter for 2 years+ now.
Previous comments still stand:
Used mine twice now. Happy.
Slightly concerned with the amount of moisture that blowing it up by breathe produces, but only cos it can be seen I guess. Decided to try a DIY bag inflator.
The valve nozzle is quite wide, but found that 25mmOD HDPE pipe will fit. (heated to allow moulding over tjhe grooves of the nozzle. A short piece gorilla taped onto a bin liner makes a "schnozzle" type affair. less than one bag of air inflates it.
I may get round to modding a drybag sometime....
I guess you mean the Static V2 mat?
I've used it down to freezing in Glen Coe with an Alpkit Pipedream 400 bag and clothing. It was somewhat cool, but bearable. A younger me would have been fine. Also used ok in Pyrenees where we had ice on the flysheet a couple of times. I guess I'd rate it 2.5 season for UK use.
Since acquired the insulated version. Obviously much warmer as it's 270g of insulation heavier.
Had one puncture, which wasn't repairable in the field, as, due to bad weather, it wasn't possible to dry the mat if I was to submerge it to find the puncture. But once home, I was able to find the leak, dry the mat and repair it with the supplied kit.
( I pinched an old CCF mat from a bothy and used it for the last 3 nights of the trip).
The repair has held in use since.
But, even with an inflator bag, there really is no way to keep moisture from accumulating inside the mat. It's only possible to get rid by warming the mat inflated in the sun and evacuating the air a few times. Most of my trips, this isn't really an option!
My mat has a myriad of various size black mould dots all over it. The insulated version is heading that way too. It seems unavoidable.
I think other brand mats suffer the same, but if the fabric is less translucent, it's not so obvious.
Interesting that klymit recommend blowing the mats up by mouth.
