Can you get short light waterproof gaiters for trainers?
Not come across any other than ones that are designed to just keep stones and crap out of your footwear.

I've got the original Outdoor Research Flex-Tex Gaiters (like these below) which fit trainers really well.

Havent seen the new II's but they look a bit heavier from the pictures, might not be though

It looks like the stretch fit type mini gaiters are difficult to get in waterproof form (maybe the stretch is an issue?). I'd looked at waterproof gaiters for trail shoes a while back and found it is really difficult to find something that works. Most traditional waterproof gaiter designs are made for boots and don't give enough overlap at the ankle/heel area of a shoe to keep out the water, but the Outdoor Research gaiters do have a different shape and can give a good seal if you cynch them down low and tight. So worth looking at Mole's suggestion. The Rab Hunza look like they might not have quite the right shape (my old Rab ?Hispar? gaiters were useless with shoes). While I may be lightweight in most areas, I'm happy to use OR Crocodile (heavy!) gaiters with trail shoes year-round - a strange combination indeed.

They look worth trying

My old Salomon Salamanders have been good, maybe a bit overkill though?
I got some hoping to replace some very very tired Event shorter ones.....I wudnt bother ...if anyone wants them £10 and £3 postage ?

Seems like its the same face fabric as the Haglofs Spitz which is a bomber proof Pro shell jacket that i had so I'm assuming they will do just fine.

Great price too.

All the short ones that fit over trail shoes aren't waterproof, just debris proof. I ended up sewing some elastic with a cordloc to the bottom edges of my waterproof trousers with the hook from a trouser hook and eye set on the front bottom edge of my waterproof trousers, which could be hooked over the shoe laces, gaiter style, so that the trouser became a gaiter for a weight penalty of about 10g. Obviously this only really makes sense if your waterproof trousers have elasticated bottoms. If they are wide they will protect the top of the shoes anyway.

Those montbell ones look good though.

I ordered a pair of mids ( inov8 325 -mid version of 305 but cheaper atm ) so hopefully with sealskinz and extremities gaiters they'll work for the winter

Aldi have waterproof spray for £1.50 at the momento so it may be possible to spray them a few times to proof em better if required...
