I watched your fastpack load off. Very interesting stuff. One thing made me LOL was in the beginning, where you looked like a terrorist making demands wearing a bomb vest.

I just watched this earlier today and it was interesting to compare you two.

Sorry for the slight off-topic.

I have Exped's own schnozzle bag and I'm not going back to any other way of inflating my mat. :)

And as I said on the load out video it is great advert for Paul and his gear (of which I have a fair bit). :D
I foolishly sold my Schnozzel bag to save grams... Stupid little grams.... Then watch Shewie inflate his pad swiftly whilst I waited for my hand pad to take shape... Pump pumo pump pump...
"can I borrow that please Rich?"

The Schnozzel is an excellent bit of kit, and I also use mine to inflate my Thermarest Uberlite with a bit of brute force to get the nozzle over the valve.

Is the Exped Universal Valve Adaptor worth it to you, or are you happy enough using brute force?

I'm happy enough using brute force, but that might change if my hands were really cold as it's brute force + a bit fiddly. I found a German guy's blog a while ago where he'd carefully removed some material from the inside of the Schnozzle outlet to make squeezing it over a Thermarest valve a bit easier, but it was still usable with Exped mats.

Just watched 4.5kg load out, great vid, and was interested in why you double up on poles for the shelter and trekking poles.

Good question. Sometimes I like to pitch then go off and attack a summit or route. Also I can use the trekking poles for the two side mid panel tieouts. Sometimes... But rarely..
I won't take poles as I try not to become dependant on them (which has happened to me in the past). Thanks for watching

Alpkit do a pump dry bag that pretty good for £10. I can fit my winter down bag in it and squash it quite small, or inflate my alpkit mat or exped downmat with it. Only tried it at home sofar. The valve is compatible but you need a little brute force to attach it to the exped. Much quicker than the little hand pump thingy.

I just cut the plastic piece from the Thermarest pump sack. It then fits over the Exped Schnozzle adaptor and joins to the Thermarest wing lock.

there is a post on BPL about this
I can take a photo this evening
