Im thinking of changing from gas to alcohol stoves. Does anyone rate the above stove. Ta
Had one and sold it without using it, there are cheaper copies about if you do think of buying, on getting mine ( original from Japan ) I thought it was too gimmicky ?
There's quite a lot to it. I have a caldera cone but tbh prefer my speedster stove and windscreen for my titan kettle.
I had one and didn’t love it
Expensive but well made and from memory it was a little thirsty. Also didn’t really like how it was top heavy with a pan of boiling water on top, always felt it was a matter of time before it’d topple over
Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I will give it a miss. Im gonna stump up for a trail designs set, buy once and all that
Swear by this set up used it last 4 years or so nearly all year round, only swapping to those noisy gas things when I know I may struggle to find water and have to melt snow https://www.flatcatgear.com/shop/snow-leopard-sr-system/ this particle one as it fits my MSR Ti kettle
Don't know if its still available?but...
I find a caldera cone burns my food alot. In my experience great for water but like the pack size and gentler heat of a speedster integrated wind shield and burner. Also the trail designs takes up a hella lot of pack space.
Use a simmer ring?
some Trail designs take up room. But so does a Speedster windscreen.
With a Trail Designs Sidewinder cone setup and wick stove (kojin, Starlyte, speedster etc) everything fits in the pot. Cone, stove etc.
Evernew Ti stove has it's place.
Thirsty on fuel and hotter/faster than most other alcohol stoves
It works well with bigger pots 1liter and above. In fact you'll struggle to boil a 2 liter pot with any other alcohol stove - in my experience.
The stand - never used it and sold it on. I use a cone with whatever burner.
