CWT Shelter for 2 People

We have owned a Strat 2 since early 2016. As a couple have done over 100nights in it. 35 in Scotland (Inc parts of CWT).

Used a Drift 2 for an 18 day trip in 2015(the very first with equal height poles and solid inner - it was my spec originally).

And I've owned a TrailStar since 2012.
I wouldn't even consider it for a couple for more than a night or 2 in decent weather. Unless you are pygmys.
Edit. The only 2person inner that would fit are custom by oookworks(no longer made) or Bearpaw WD(US import, varying reviews) . The Hexpeak inner you linked to won't fit.
Have you seen/used the 2p xmid in person, Mole?

Have been thinking of getting a strat since we borrowed yours, but the x-mid seems to appeal from being a slightly simpler geometry without relying on struts (but I didn't find the strat difficult to pitch, to be fair).

No/No
But got the Xmid 1 and seen @Padowan s in wind n rain.

I'd say what Ed says re the 2P.
Probably stand up to it, panels will likely bow in wind more than the Strat due to size/steepness. Slightly bigger footprint due to square corners...

How do you find the Drift?
Did.**

It was OK in a heavy rain storm.

Not as good as the Strat. Inner saggy and a bit of faff to get right. Construction looked a bit "homemade"

Silpoly on it still stretches physically a little , in frost/rain/bows in wind. I didn't find it noticeably better than silnylon in use, apart from that it absorbs less water, so not so heavy if packed wet.

**(Haven't had it since 2015, when it was sent back for the inner to be modified as it was saggy and broke) After near 6 months of fobbing off, lost confidence I'd ever see it back, and so got a full refund, and bought a Strat 2 straight away, which we have used ever since when backpacking as a couple).

Ta, so basically fractionally simpler, cheaper and smaller packed, but maybe a bit less comfortable in big winds and slightly larger footprint. Maybe I'll just wait for either to come up second hand..
