Cuppa pics and also camelids

Tried an unusual way to make coffee yesterday... Using a tetra drip, wedged a coffee bag in and poured hot water over.

Why? Well, using the small Wildo fold-a-cup coffee bags take a lot of the volume and this might get more coffee out of the bag.
Why didn't I use ground coffee? Well, I usually carry ground coffee for breakfast and just have coffee bags as backup in case I fancy coffee during the day or at camp in the evening, so I carry the tetra drip anyway

Verdict? Well, works fine, at least as good as using the bag conventionally. It just needs topping up regularly with small amounts of water (if over-filled the water just spills through the corners of the tetra drip).

Have you tried boiling the water with the bag in the cup?

Have you tried boiling the water with the bag in the cup? Highly recommended if you haven't done it before. Gives you at least the same, or far better in my opinion, result and it's hot and strong. Water's boiled, lift out the bag-and it's ready to scoff. Much less stuffing around. It's also how I make my tea.
Not tried that, might be worth experimenting. Obviously the plastic fold-a-cup won't do for this! I prefer strong coffee, so the 300ml max volume is not ideal when using a 600ml+ pot as a cup. Boiling water with coffee in it can make it rather bitter, but that may be a matter of individual taste, and could be minimised of taking off the heat as soon as the water reaches a boil.

Which is how Turkish coffee is brewed.
That's just given me an idea...Instead of putting the ground coffee in the Java drip and pouring nearly boiling water over it and letting it drip through, on my next trip I will try putting the ground coffee in the pot with the cold water, then bring it to the boil and pour it through the java drip into my cup, using the Java drip just to capture the grounds. Should make for a stronger and more flavourful coffee.
Anyone already tried that?

You don't need the java drip. Wait for the grounds to settle at the bottom of the mug and then sip slowly. If you take sugar, add it to the pot at the same time as the coffee.
