    Trek-lite meet 2019…

    Friday Evening

Arriving Friday afternoon at 4pm, grabbed a space at Seathwaite Farm with the plan to meet TL’ers @gixer , @JKM @NEEpps and Scott at Bowfell links hoping to arrive around 6.30pm (ha!)

    Path to Esk Hause

Weather was bright and dry but the clouds higher gave ominous warnings…

Got to Esk Hause which was thick of cloud, more haste less speed, I was about 30 metres from the summit of Allen Crags before I realised I was going the wrong way :banghead:. Turnaround, back track and then turned down to Angle Tarn.

Arriving it was out of the cloud and looked pretty good but looking up the path to Ore Gap was grim (think Mordor…), I was tempted to stay but decision made to press on.

I got up to Ore Gap and vis was poor. Again, I should have pitched here and waited for them to arrive in the morning but tonight was a night for wrong decisions, so started up Bowfell. The weather (and my will) deteriorated rapidly from this point, crossing Bowfell boulder fields in thick damp cloud constantly losing the paths, I’d ran out of water, taking far too long. Eventually (7:30pm by now) descended to Three Tarns, otherwise known as The Wind Tunnel.... Realised I was starting to descend The Band..turned around…FFS….:(

Visibility…zilch I stood on their grid reference and couldn’t see a thing. Rain was now lashing down (whatever criticism @gixer gets for this weather, he deserves it…b’stard…). A gust of wind suddenly blows some cloud and there they are just 30 yards away (as they had been for the last 20 minutes…)

Greeted by @NEEpps, the tent thrown up, I dive in, absolutely drenched. That spare set of clothes (TNF lite pants, Rohan Ultra Tee and pants) that I often think of leaving behind…most welcome… godsend.

Battered by wind and rain all night, it starts to let up and 6am…morning has broken…

Saturday Morning banter…relieved I couldn’t hear what they were saying last night because of the wind…

Trying to get the Terras dry…

Breakfast from Base Camp Foods…(sweet but pretty good I thought)…

Looking back to Three Tarns, a bit clearer than last night!

Back over Bowfell, Ore Gap and Esk Pike…the sun is out and weather conditions perfect..

Passed Esk Hause, relax and brew up at a nice spot by the stream

    Views of Wasdale open up

On to Great Gable, looking across to the Scafells…

View from the climbers traverse, getting a bit hot now, sunscreen applied

Eventually get round to Beckhead Tarn, one last push to Kirkfell Tarn

Arrived at 4pm to meet @Karl @Shewie @paul @Tartanferret relaxing in the sunshine. Great to meet everyone again and some new faces.

@cathyjc and @Chiseller arrive shortly after.

    Customary Phreeranger pics…

Soaking clothes all dried out on an evening of fine weather

@Shewie - remember to stick the TT MoTrail on the "What this old thing? - Wish List" thread for yourself

Evening meal ‘Nettle Curry’ from BCF again…really impressed, didn’t miss the meat at all.

Drip filter hanger thingy I made…works as long as your not dying of thirst…

Setting sun…grabbed a pic, might never happen on a TL meet again…

    Sleepy time…

    Sunday 5am…Great Gable looking like a Behemoth….

Said goodbyes…descend Kirkfell back to Great Gable with @NEEpps .Skirt around using Moses Trod and then up to Windy Gap (note to self…never ascend this way again….). Me and @NEEpps part company, I ascend Green Gable whilst he descends Aaron Slack.

    View from Green Gable

I start to descend Green Gable to Sourmilk Gill, a lone walker greets me on the way up… “I’m going to Kirk Fell, I’ve just passed a bloke who says theres 12 bloody tents on there!” he says.

    “Don’t worry they’ll probably be gone by now, the s**ts…” I reply…

Looking back up the gill (descending not half as good as going up…just seems to go on and on and on…)

Nice! The Saturday morning banter appears to have involved one serious-looking IV drip. ;)

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed that.
I'm glad you liked the nettle curry as we've got some in the cupboard but haven't tried it yet.

I think that was the draught pack they brought up from the Dungeon Ghyl Hotel, they were planning on doing beer bong challenges if the weather was better...;)

It was excellent @WilliamC , great flavour and texture. First time for LYO, will definitely try others now.

Tis true, my wife reminds me daily...

We especially like the Lyo Bigos (Polish sauerkraut so perhaps not for everyone), the pork loin in green pepper sauce and the farfalle with gorgonzola and spinach .

Ah, the food was all paid for, just showing what i thought was good and worth trying.

Khufus are certainly the new black (3 of them), Atom packs, Zpacks all making an appearance. And it did look like a Treadlite Gear Bazaar :D
