Welcome to the forum,Tom!
Not sure you qualify as entirely new though, having been on a TL meet.
Resistance however, is useless, you know it all makes sense
Welcome to both of you, enjoy your stay
I came across this forum a few days ago while wasting time. Been a poor track of weather lately so been wasting more, mainly on this site. Its sort of drawn me in....
My name is Neil, I live in Shetland. I do extreme stonewalling, trailing off a bit now I'm a pensioner. Ive been a summer holiday mountain hiker, mostly Norway, for years. Lately into pilgrimages. Love to make/modify/ruin kit. Your site is brilliant, learning a lot here, because its more GB/Europe oriented.
Must finish my tax return now....maybe...
Welcome aboard Neil
Thank you , my good man.
Welcome Tom and welcome Neil ,
Great page you’ve joined Tom and Neil...
Introduction as a new person to trek-lite: Hi, I'm Andrew and for several months now it appears that I am getting interested in hiking, as I seem to go out walking more than I cycle, having been a keen cyclist for decades. I really enjoy my time out on my own either locally or in the Brecons or Black Mountains. My aim is to keep on day hiking with a view to this becoming two-day hikes, and so on. I have some basic hiking gear, a legacy of an organised trekking holiday several years ago, and am looking to kit myself out appropriately for my anticipated longer hikes and camping out. I have been really enjoying this website, and am especially drawn to things related to gear and myog. It takes me a very long time to make a purchase of any item of gear as I seem to have to obsessively research it before taking the plunge and buying, so reviews and opinions on here are very helpful. I am currently researching backpacks, especially ones that would be comfortable for a load up to 12kg and that do not soak up the water: the Exped Thunder has currently caught my attention.
Welcome to the forum Andrew
HI everyone, I'm Robert from Hamburg, Germany. What can I say - love hiking, especially in the UK (been to England, Wales and Scotland as well as the Isle of Man). There's a German hiking forum which I quite like and which has taught me the value of being in touch with a like-minded community. So I thought I might extend my gaze to an English-speaking hiker forum. And so here I am ...
Welcome to the forum Robert
Been lurking around here for a time now and thought that it might be a good idea to introduce myself! Got interested in UL backpacking a few months ago, when I found r/ultralight and now trying to lighten my load. Currently got a pretty heavy baseweight (over 7kg for the big 4..), but looking forward to try quilts, packs with roll top & trekking pole supported tents in the future. I mostly do weekend hikes in southern Sweden where i live, but trying to go on at least one longer hike (~10days) every year - northern Sweden is a favourite! Hoping to do a light thru of kungsleden in the future. I also currently work in an outdoor store, so I'm kinda obsessed with gear..
That's about it! Just ask if you want to know anything else
Välkommen till trek-lite, @Toby .
Tackar! Kul med ännu en svensk
after lurking some time I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Adrian and I am from Germany. After a few hikes around the world I decided to drop off the typical beginning weight and start to go light. So I ended up here as well.
And kinda Wow!!
How many times around the world,
To be very precise ... 3,74 times.
Aha, so still completing the fourth circumnavigation.
When you due home?
But 3.74 - precision???
A couple more decimal places at least, if you please
That's how we roll round these parts
- just so as you know
I see I still have to adapt a little
You'll get the hang of it - soon enuff Ade
Just didn't want you starting off on the wrong foot
Welcome aboard Adrian, you must have a few stories with pictures, without pictures, well, it never happened Maybe start a thread of your own to show us
Very true without pictorial evidence nothing actually happened accounts for how many crimes are gotten away with.
Haha alright. I will search some of my pictures and make a small post as soon as I have some time off.
