Mine's worked well enough in the short time I've had it. I wouldn't be packing it if I was expecting prolonged cold+wet+windy conditions though.

Hood isn't great, but I've never had a hood I thought was very good on a rain jacket (maybe I have a weird shaped head) and I always have a cap for the sun/to clip my light to in the night.

    why's that?

It just seems flimsy to me. For colder season use I still use an Arcteryx Theta AR Goretex Pro which weighs 550g compared to my Columbia's 235g. For the extra weight I get a longer, better hooded, much more windproof, and hence warmer jacket. Probably a more waterproof one too, although I've no actual evidence of that.

The only issues I've seen are with people wearing too much clothing underneath and understandably becoming wet.
I will keep beating the hell out of my other jackets to preserve it. My bright yellow Froggy is still going after a year with a bit of help from some duct tape.

What's the chance they will release another batch - or is it a one off ?

Apparently they are. Heavier, so I've read.
But the clowns at Columbia didn't even know the weight of this one so who knows?

    I emailed them about this...

So, somewhere between 0g and 1kg i reckon is a safe bet.

I also asked about size S.

EDIT: I see that this one is the Outdry Ex Lightweight Shell Jacket - confusing name conventions.

It weighs about 180 gms. Confirmed on Reddit with an owner. I posted the weight on TL a while back, but can't remember where.

Did anyone NOT buy the dayglow yellow because it was cheap? Lol

Does the new one address some of the criticisms of the hood etc?

The one review on the site...
I do not recommend this item.

Thought shake dry was not pack compatible?
That was the USP of the Columbia if memory serves.

ME has two shake dry jackets now the Impellor Shakedry Jacket at 190g (they say) & the Propellor Shakedry Jacket at 225g & able to be worn under a pack (they say)
If the Propellor had of been there when I was looking for a new jacket may have got that instead of the Gandiva.
(don't like me columbia ex featherweight)
Tried to link them under the names but that got messed up, so links below

Looks nice hanging in the cupboard is all I can say about it really. :(
I got it not long before travel restrictions came into effect for a trip I had booked & haven't used it at all. I did listen to Chris Townsend's advice & sized up, & am glad I did as a M would have been very tight I believe going by the L I got.
