indeed. I was thinking the same. A piece of thin elastic with mini cord lock would make the process even easier

Hadn't thought of the elastic & cord lock - will be on my to-do list

This is significantly heavier than the full-size Aeropress (presumably due to the cup/lid), so swapping out a for a lighter cup would bring the weight down significantly

I've tried the Aeropress as a luxury on one wild camp - nice but heavy and bulky so I'm tempted to try just stirring and letting the grounds settle.

It's a lump to be sure. About the same weight as my tent lol. Have you thought about one of these.

Is that the same as the one Mole linked me to? How robust are they given the size? Would you crush it and damage it easily? 20200228_085138.jpg
Coffee this morning (live) on my day off. Even though this thing is heavy at 140 gms you can belt the hell out of it and not worry and you get a nice Moka?
You could pull the handle off and the top button too or even the entire lid I reckon.
100 gm canister in the pic for scale.

The lid fell off the one I use daily years ago. It splutters a bit but isn't crucial to the functioning of it. My coffee maker of choice (Bialetti).

Yes it's the same thing. They are pretty robust but mine lives in my pot so is well protected. Ultimately I guess it comes down to quality bid coffee Vs weight to achieve it. The filter basket is my best brew for the weight. I'm sure I'd get an even nicer brew with a heavier setup but for me the weak point in the armoury is milk. It's always going to compromise the taste using powdered and I'm not prepared to carry fresh. I can stomach black but don't enjoy it.

Yes I quoted the wrong post lol. It's early :)
