    Hi all.

I have already made a few posts but thought it would be nice to say hello here.

I'm Swedish and live in Gothenburg. I hike when I get the chance. Prior to this family man life that I'm living, I made some really cool adventures. Cycled from Sweden to Spain in 24 days, hiked in New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Norway, Sweden and more.

Love Gothenburg. A few business trips there usually every winter. First trip we turned up in February having left some unseasonably warm and sunny conditions in UK. So we left coats behind and ended up walking around Gothenburg in February in a summer suit with just a shirt under the jacket. Cold but we still walked the streets and shopping malls. Lovely city. Great Boston style sports bar we ended up in. Being English they stuck us on a table opposite a huge TV with only two brothers from the city. Then they turned on the Liverpool match. The brothers were Liverpool fans.

We sat there eating great food, drinking beer and only having to leave our seats to let the beer out. Since it was an important local Derby our seats were under no threat as everyone else was in other parts of the bar watching the Derby.

I used to hope my business trips would allow me to get cheap Haglofs (my favourite brand back then). It was no cheaper over in Sweden.

I hope to get to Gothenburg again one day. I even say Sweden is one country I could migrate to one day. If I had to live in a city Gothenburg is one near the very top of my list of acceptable cities.

PS is the Gothenburg sound still to be heard there? Iirc it's a kind of heavy metal.

Good to hear your story. You should check out the beautiful archipelago outside of here. The easiest way to get there is to take the tram from the city center to the boat stop and jump on a boat that takes you to and around some of the islands. The tram ticket is valid on the boats too.

We have some nice nature here but except from the archipelago, nothing epic. No sugar loaf, no high peaks, no roaring water falls. But it's a good city with nice vibe. I think we have comparably many metal bands and local breweries. At the mountain behind my house, there are three small caves were I could go and sleep in case I feel like playing some kind of game of caveman or homeless.

Did you leave the city to see something around it?

It was. I especially remember my lightweight pack. I even skipped the sleeping bag, my system camera took up too much space. I woke up shivering most nights. After some squats, push-ups, and sometimes some tea at 3 am, it was back to sleep again. We slept wherever we could - under bridges, at a hippodrome, an abandoned petrol station and so on.
