Looks delish! Will have to wait for autumn berry time... which means .. oh no! my quilt might not be warm enough.. which means... Oh no! Do I need to research consider admire and finally buy a new item, a 20 degree quilt!

Retail opportunities aside, looks gréât.

(Grrr.. apologies for my keyboard again)

These Tins might interest someone.
Aldi Alcafe coffee tin £1.25
Tesco's Nescafe coffee tin £3.00.
Coffee taste like crap but the tins are prob ali and weigh nothing with a plastic lid.
Will weigh them when empty and post up.

Decided to move away from gas and invested in an alcohol burner. Really pleased with the stormin stove. Didn't realise it can't be lit with a firesteel but using a lighter isn't a prob.

My newest 'favourite' solo cook kit -

Toakes UL 700ml pot and lid, 600ml Kupilak :)thumbsup: @Mole), homemade Ti cone, 2 cut off drinks bottles as cone container plus Ikkle burner :).
I can store meths bottle inside cone + measuring cup. One half also has liquid measurement marks.
Kupilac (folded) tucks inside pot upside down leaving space for lighter and other bits and bobs (choose your own :whistling: )

Under 200gms for a real practical set up.

I've previously used an Evenew wide 600ml UL pot - this set up is much better shape and volume.
Toakes + lid = 84g Useable volume = 550ml.
Evernew + lid = 95g Useable volume = 450ml.
The Evernew is too wide (food slops out) but the Toakes is not too tall (not wobbly).

Having said all that ^^^, if I was doing 'proper' cooking I'd choose hard-anodised Alu not Ti :whistling::D

PS. I don't go with manufacturers published volumes ….. who ever fills a pot to the brim ?? :wacky:

Tidy looking cone Cathy.

Craige I don't think the proportions are quite wide/shallow enough to make a full height sidewinder style cone. You could use a silicone band or wire to allow a shallower cone to be used which could fit in. Or, make a split 2 piece cone. Would weigh about 10g more, but fit inside no problem.

Will a one piece cone not fit in the pot sideways @cathyjc? I am planning on making one this week and was hoping it would.

I don't bother much about storing the cone inside the pot as it's not space efficient. Better storing it separately and filling the pot with other 'stuff' that fills the pot not leaving silly empty spaces. HYOH. :).

I can get the cone for the Evernew 600 inside the pot …. don't really like it tho'. Pot is too shallow IMHO.

Damn, I was sure someone had said stormin made a one piece that fits. I may go with the silicon band then... Not about weight so much as convenience.

Storing it separately is asking for me to misplace it. My entire kit is pot, lid, windscreen stove and spoon. Fuel bottle in mesh outside pack with the spoon so I don't have anything else to put in the pot.

- you'd need a wider silicone band than the regular ones I've seen around.

I get why you might not want fuel/cone inside a pot for cleanliness, but no empty spaces ( silly or otherwise ;) ) in our evernew 900 + sidewinder.
120ml fuel bottle goes inside the cone. Either side of the cone is stove, spoon, lighter, j cloth, and any other room is used for coffee sachets or tea bags. And a sea to summit collapsible X mug (500ml) sits on top. The pot lid fits snugly.

That arrangement isn't so good with the smaller 600 size. I could fit a 60ml fuel bottle inside cone, inside small plastic mug, plus burner but lid wouldn't sit closed, and not much else.

A mate uses an Evernew 600. He fits everything inside in a similar way to I described above, though no fuel bottle inside, but including a 500ml X mug. It's a trail designs sidewinder, so maybe it can be rolled more compact due to not using tabs?

Regardless of what you can fit in the Evernew 600 - the shape isn't good and the useable volume poor - by comparison to a taller pot :D

Single piece cone I made for my 700 leaves about 35mm under it, so unless you can go sub 10mm stove height think you'll need a silicone band. Not happy with mine as is. Hence giving the 130mm wide '900' a go.
Smart setup @cathyjc
I too would like everything in the pot and single piece cone ideally too.

I’ve finally gone back to the dark side of alcohol faff & Esbit for some multi-day trips. Went the Flat Cat Leopard/Epicurean route. All goes in my Evernew 900 pot/mug at 148g without speedster stove, which I’ll add later. With the epicurean I might try some dry baking - I’ve no idea if it’s any good as I haven’t tried it yet ;)

Nice @cathyjc. Have you tried using something for protecting the cone that can also be used as a mug (Carte d'Or ice cream containers are good for that here - I don't know if they're the same in the UK).

@Diddi you can try with magnet if they are ali...but from what I recall going thru some of the Aldi offerings most are just steel with liner added. I would avoid those by all means...

@ColinHawke the Epicurean is great for boiling/simmering/drybaking...I went DIY with the stove in similar fashion and it works very well for drybaking...see here http://www.trek-lite.com/index.php?threads/fresh-blueberry-banana-muffin-drybaking.2204/

you would want to add inner drybaking pan...those can be found cheap on fleabay :D
