My pair of £30 Skogstad Lifjell Primaloft Shorts from Sportpursuit have arrived. They are what it says on the tin: knee-length insulated liners with full-length side zips. The Primaloft Silver Insulation Eco 25g isn't extra warm but this makes them useful for some active use in varying weather conditions. Weight is 230 gr in size XL (which is a snug XL, surprisingly for a Scandinavian company), roughly comparable to full length Power Dry long johns (but quite a bit warmer, I'd wager).

A Cumulus Primelite Pullover, Treadlite Gear Large Cuben Stuffsack, Treadlite Gear roll top dry bag and Treadlite Gear Dump Lite Spinnaker toilet bag. Dumbly forgetting 10% Treadlite Discount. All in all should knock a further 250g off of my current base weight.

I am weak... But now, I am the second owner of this pristine Bernina Record 530-1. The original owner paid 122.500 francs in March 1959 or roughly two grand in today's money. I paid slightly less than half the price of the piece of plastic currently sold by Lidl...

What’s the advantage over your (IIRC) Suluk axe?
The Petzl Ride is a replacement for my Petzl Literide, not the Suluk Tika. The Tika is more of a minimalist summer ice tool and only very limited use for self-belay. Wheteas the Petzl covers alpine spring seasons, belaying a mate, summit routes, and the kind rough use (hacking into anything that might give a hold) one normally expects an axe to cope with.
It was an unexpected surprise find with the grip as a bonus (3 layers of gloves don't give a secure-feeling hold on an ice axe shaft :D). But I'll keeping my Suluk tika....:)

Belaying? Is this axe T rated, pick and shaft? If so my son may be getting a DMM Cirque for xmas (hardly used, well mebe a little)

@Michael_x - I don't know actually - can't see anything - but I'd assume a 'B'. In any case, I wouldn't take the Ride on a route where I'd expect to need belay. But ok catering for unexpected situations. Materials and joints are the same as Petzl Literide or Glacier - solid but not designed for high performance use and big wall stuff...

8 Easton Stakes - 9" from @ValleyandPeak Ordered yesterday - delivered today.
My Over quilt - bought a couple of weeks ago - was ordered, made and delivered in a week.
Easton stakes from V&P are set to become the new Ron Hill tracksters: dead giveaways of British hikers across Europe. ;)
