Knot large Oct...

Hi all,
I've had three tents in this series of knot shelters and it may not come as a suprise to some of you that I rate them....

Anyhow I ordered the HUGE version, 3.7m square and 2.5m high for spacious family camping, should get 2 of the 2p inners in there and still have space for cooking and chilling out of the rain.
As usual I ordered through YUKI on AliEx, and it came in two weeks or so.
Sadly I got the wrong one, they sent the large 2.8m version, though this time, like the XL version it has two entrances. Fabric looks more like normal silnylon than the normal knot fabric too.

Anyhow they are going to send me an XL, but if anyone fancies one of these it would be worth making them an offer and I could post it direct.
Weight of the single entrance one is 870g ish and this one I measure at 833g without auxiliary guy outs. It's a huge space for that weight.
This pic is of my large that I swapped with my sister for the 3f SL3 copy.

Hi Enzo, have you taken the 2.8m version out for any nights? Wondering how it stands up in weather compared to the smaller ali express gear. 20D does bode well!

I've slept out in the 2.8m version that I used to own, but only in fairly decent weather. The 2.5 I'm now confident can handle a battering. I'd assume the 2.8 would be similar other than being bigger?
Fabric does feel different to me on this one, more like normal silnylon.
Monster space for the weight.

Slip of the brain, I meant to ask about the 2.5m anyhow. Looks like you've got an aluminum pole, is that from aliexpress or elsewhere?

Yup that looks like it. Most obvious characteristic is that it holds on to creases unlike normal sil. Whatever MLD say, I've had very strong rain for days under mine with no problems. I trust mine.

And OK in wind?

Tent next to us in the lakes got flattened. The shape is very good in wind due to the cat cut and 8 sided shape.
In the worst weather I pin them through the lineloc webbing, and use 6 plus guys. No problems so far. Is there a wind that'll do for it? Of course. Same as any shelter. I use mine for couples/family trips so rarely summits and I wouldn't think twice about using it now for any but the most extreme weather I'm likely to be out in. Not ideal for snow though due to fairly low angled walls.
They rely on cat cut around the base rather than very small top vents for ventilation so in cooler weather the 4 season inners are recommended and very cheap.

All the ones I've had are silnylon rather than sil/poly with seam tape like the 3f shelters, so like almost all sil shelters the sealing is left to the user. It takes 10 mins and I don't regard doing it as factor worth including when deciding on a shelter myself.

I did see pics of a trailstar copy, not clear if it was the knot/flames cread one, that was taped though, so perhaps they are trying out different fabrics. The twin entry large knot I have is certainly a different fabric to the normal type.

@Enzo how do you rate air circulation in the 2.8m version? Condensation is a big concern here in Appalachia but the cat cut seems promising. I've narrowed my search to this 2.8m knot oct and the go-lite 3 copy.

The top vents are small, so ventilation comes mostly from the cat cut bottom edge and hence varies with how high it's pitched. If the 4p inner is usef, the 2.8 dwarfs it so no chance of it touching.

No, it doesn't crinkle at all, just looks like normal silnylon. I'm not sure if the version I got sent was a production model though, I've not seen the 2.8 with two zips, so no idea if they have moved to a different silnylon.
