i’ve discovered my local holland & barratt is clearing out protein bars/cookies which i use as a boost when on walking trips. in reality they are often not especially healthy but give a significant protein addition and go really well with a coffee (as they are frequently very sweet).

top brand stuff being heavily discounted despite long sellby dates, silly prices - some bars were reduced from £2.50 to 37p!!!

over the last 2 days i have taken advantage and stocked up - i’ve bought around £250 worth for less than £40....

so, it may be an idea to check your local store :D

edit - forgot to explain that the shelf ticket prices were sometimes incorrect - e.g. some bars were marked as 49p but came up on the till as 37p. it was a slightly surreal experience - the staff were very friendly & helpful yet i got the feeling that if the till showed the bar cost just 1p they didnt care if it was an error and would have let me fill by boots....!!!!

Couple of z pack arc blast for sale. 1 medium and 1 small at £195 each. Other bits for sale. No connection to seller but thought the packs might be of interest here.
Thanks for the link. I tried to buy the small blast but was just too late. I persuaded myself, probably unrealistically that the straps on the Blast would be narrower than the Haul. They’re probably exactly the same, except the haul I returned had 3” straps but the website describes them as 2.5”.

Hey all you ARc Blast owners, how wide are your straps?

Three Arc Blasts here. Two date from the pre-adjustable back length and the days when they came in three sizes: the largest (same as current Arc Haul in volume) widens to 2.74 inches near the top and tapers to 2" near the bottom, the other (same volume as the current Arc Blast) widens to 2.5 inches near the top and tapers to 2" near the bottom. The newest (current back system but bought in 2015) widens to 3" near the top and tapers to 2.5" near the bottom. They tend to stay close the their widest measurement for about half of their length.

@WilliamC Thanks for that. Very useful. It shows that I should only consider buying a quite old second hand ArcBlast or possibly a Scout, which I am going to try, it has narrower straps but may be too short for me and they are sending it as 'exchange' so hopefully will not have to pay duty.

I have an old arc blast that I might sell, the straps are 6cm at the top, 6.5cm in the middle and 4.5cm at the bottom if that’s any use for you? Not sure if that’s what you are looking for?
