Are small British tent companies any good? For example Trekkertent, Terra Nova, and Lightwave.

Grab it quick, it won't be available long.

Yep, buying today. Trying to decide between the T10 Trek XT and G1 Ionix.

The T0 Trek XT is I assume a smaller version of the T10 Trek XT.

The mystery is the the G1 Ionix. I can see reference to a G2 Ionix online but the G1 is also described as 2 man on the site so maybe a 1 man... I'm interested in a roomy 1 man tent.

Which one did you get?

The T10 Trek XT. Huge vestibule, generous inner for 1 man, 4 season, 40d fly, really good in wind. Front entrance which is a bit of pain but meh. A tad under 2kg, fine.

Would I have preferred a Big Sky Chinook or Scarp 1, yeah probably, but the Lightwave will do what I need and for much cheaper. Thanks a lot for the link!

The G1 looks great. Not the lightest but a lot of tent for your money, and free-standing.

It was just hard to find any information about it and it weighs 2.6kg I think. The information (YouTube video) I could find was about the G2 and from 12 years ago.

Good catch. The extra 10" width is well worth the extra 4oz.

That looks like a great tent at an awesome price! Nice catch.

For what I read is a one-man outfit Crux / Lightwave have a huge range of gear. 26 different tents according to this: https://www.lightwave.uk.com/products/tents/lightwave-tents
The Crux brand has another 6: https://www.crux.uk.com/category/tents-shelters

32 different tent models.

To compare Zpacks and Gossamer Gear have 7 and 5 respectively. 13 tents in total (although they do tarps and other stuff). You could add a couple more US smaller gear manufacturers and they'd still have less tent models combined than Lightwave / Crux.

Even though I think some of their tents are exactly or similar designs just different materials it must be a bit of an organisational / logistical nightmare.

The Crux HQ used to be a 10 min walk from my house. The old mill buildings they were in got redeveloped into flats so they had to move.
There were two people operating it. I got a bargain eVent jacket off them (XXL prototype) for £15 and several broken high quality DAC poles to poach good bits from. And a ripped flysheet for spare nylon.

I'm not sure. Its a fairly steep pitch due to the gothic arch poles and the material is very strong. I bought it more for wet n windy conditions, but I'm sure it can handle some snow.

I managed to quickly pitch it indoors today without breaking any ornaments  it stood nicely with just a front and rear guy tied to furniture. Quite easy to pitch all in one.

Just as a random heads up, was just idly browsing the Ultralightoutdoorgear basement section and they have the vestibule groundsheet for the T10 XT for £30 if it's any interest to you.

edit - actually looks to be just the same price on the official site. UOG not especially generous with their 'basement' pricing. Ignore!

Ahh, cool. They seem like really good company. I recieved the T10 Trek XT and the quality seems top notch. Although I was missing a pole and had to ring up and ask for one : )

Thanks. This tent seems to be really well made, I'll probably skip a ground sheet for now. Well, I'll take a polycro one for the backpack.

Pics?

I like a tunnel-tent, yes claustrophobic and can be awkward to get in/out (especially a 1-man one), but it works for me.
Might have a different opinion after actually using this one, but my stealth is also a tunnel-tent albeit a wide one.
The 2 man one would be better is fair bit heavier (2.4)

Your stealth?

I can't put my Lightwave up yet because I'm lacking a pole but as soon as it arrives I will. Might even do a garden review.

Oh yeah. The outer door tieback method was a bit poor.
Everything has its little niggles though, not much is perfect.
The tent was nice to use as a space.

Beautiful photos. I love the look of the Drift 2, and am thinking about ordering a custom 55" wide...

I was eyeing the Hilleberg Anaris earlier, but at only 47" wide, I couldn't get past needing to downgrade my sleeping pad in order to accommodate...

Are you able to say that the Drift 2 is a fairly storm-worthy tent?

I've been reading through your comments, and from the sounds of it, the time to pitch, tent sag, and a flappy door are the worst of things. I'm mostly curious to know how the tent performs in high winds? Any words of wisdom?

I will primarily be using it in the summer months, near pristine alpine lakes in northern Washington state wilderness--but where things do tend to get windy in the evenings...

I appreciate that you are one of only a few people posting publicly about their experiences with this tent (it does seem to be fairly niche), so I owe you a great deal of gratitude for any additional words you are willing to offer up :)

P.s. If I do pull the trigger on this tent, I will likely be posting a proper review video for others to reference (including field testing in rough weather conditions).
