I enjoyed those vids. I must confess the American accent triggers a slight negative response in me when I hear it - expecting the person to be a bit loud and over opinionated. My bad. But I warmed to the guy and found him enthusiastic and not overbearing. His gear vids are interesting and gave me food for thought. I liked the bit where he is opting for the little swiss army knife - I've carried that as part of my kit since starting.. and its so handy : )
Most of my gear and gear choices now seem to be aimed at my winter/late season trekking, but am tempted back into warmer weather hiking and as per Bigfoot - might give the ankle gaiter/shorts a go (I hate running hot) and look at the leggings and something like a minimus pant for camp wear.
Time to look at lightening the load for some late Summer outings (I'm onto physio now with my knee to get some muscle back!)
