Any experience of the Kumo 36?

I'm looking for a bigger pack than my Talon 22 for long-distancve hostelling / B&Bs, as even slimmed down to (what I think) the minimujm, it's just a little too small. I could just go for a Talon 33, but I'd like to save a bit of weight.

I've looked up and down, rejected most everything else, but keep coming back to the Kumo 36. Not many around, and it seems a few people have had them and not kept them long.

Any feedback?

The Kumo is my only pack for the past 2 years. I’m very happy with it. It’s just done it’s second TGO challenge. The fabric is not as water proof as it was, and I’ve torn a hole in the back mesh on barbed wire. Apart from that it’s fine.

Excellent! Thanks for the reply! You clearly have your kit dialled down to the minimum! How do you find the hip belt on the Kumo? Is it supportive, comfortable? I also saw that some commented on the shoulder straps, that they were maybe a bit firm - how do you find them?

The hip belt has two positions so a little adjustment to back length. The hip belt is reasonably supportive and I find the shoulder straps comfortable and I like the mesh pockets on the straps. I think it comes down to what you are going to carry in it. It is a frame less pack after all.

I can recommend the GG Murmur hyperlight which is very similar in design but with a rolltop and a bit lighter. Shoulderstraps are very comfortable - hipbelt usable except the ridiculous tiny stretch hipbelt pockets. The mesh has proved good quality.

Thank you for the helpful replies! I think I'm going to take a closer look at the Kumo. I like the idea of the Murmur, but read a few things about durability - the material is extremely thin apparently. I want something that's going to last reasonably well, though as said, you do sacrifice some durability for lower weight. I'm not looking for extremes, but to get a the weight a bit lower than today.
