Winter skills courses recommendations

Hi
Not sure if this is in the right place, so chuck it off if need be.
Been wanting for years to learn winter skills with crampons, walking axe & safe travel but never got round to it due to lack of money to go somewhere or being here with no hard pack really to try & teach meself.
So decided to ask here if anyone could recommend a good course or instructor in Scotland?
I know they are pretty dear & even more so with everything else on top, so to be honest am not saying am going to do it but would be nice to see what's out there & then who knows.

Find an experienced friend ?

Glenmore lodge is good, all kit is included. Accommodation is good value too.

BMC does course at a bargain price but sell out very fast im sure you have to bring your own kit for these.

Cairngorm adventure guides also good, kit supplied but arrange your own accommodation.

Ive done all of the above over the past few years. You can learn a fair bit by reading and you tube.

Its a small price to pay for skills that could save your life and its generally a one off cost.

Some excellent suggestions from Ally. Cheapest way is probably to join a local mountaineering club and learn from experienced folk there .

But thanks to a kind offer from here (sorry didn't ask if I could mention who so best not to yet) I may be learning those skills 3 weeks from now

I did a winter course last year with unexplored scot last year. Enjoyed it, worth the money. He supplies all the kit except boots, although I had all my own kit as I was buying in preparation for a trip

Million options in Scotland! In adition to the classics such as Glenmore or Plas y Brenin you can just pick an area that is logistically good for you and search for certified guides that offer intro courses there.

Do you have any info on the BMC course? They appear to have a good video series, but can't find an actual course on their website (there is one link to one, but the link leads to an error page)

Sorry wasn't BMC it was Mountaineering Scotland I was thinking of - https://www.mountaineering.scot/safety-and-skills/courses-and-events/our-courses/winter-skills
