In this case the Escalantes but I’m talking about running, not backpacking ...
Used La Sportiva’s in Norway but they gave me ankle issues; I suspect the sudden rise in ‘drop’ did me in.
I might try some Escalantes for every day shoes.

If I'm doing a hike anything over about 8 miles in shoes I get pain in my inner ankles. I think I'm rolling my ankles with every step and eventually it gets so painful I can hardly take another step, especially downhill. It doesn't seem to matter if it is in, Brookes Cascadia, Altra Lone Peak 3.5s, or Salomon X Ultras. I've found the only workable solution for 20 mile days is to wear my Salomon Quest boots. I sound like a real wimp but I think all of this is due to old leg injuries and my body getting older than my brain thinks it is. :wacky:

Now have a carbon pole and huge Cuben tub floor on the way ...plus my “ Stash of cash” is having to be raided to pay helpful PayPal friend ....The lengths we go too :angelic::angelic::confused:

Nice shoes indeed but wondering about those tiny knobbles on the sole profile - seen that on a couple of shoes lately.... I don't imagine they can last very long? What happens to that good grip on rock then??? Experiences by anyone appreciated...

1st run out in them today above Kettlewell.
Grip on wet rock....Excellent, grip on wet limestone, encouraging, grip on wet grass uphill and downhill with emergency stop Outstanding .
Grip in mud and clog of pattern from molehills etc, respectable for a rock biased sole.
Overall comfort ...I'm happy but longer technical trails will be the judge.
Yet to see how much trail debris they take on , as they went much on these trails to pick up.

Zebralight H600Fd IV

Went for the daylight option this time, replacing my ageing and underpowered 1200 warm white lumens with 1600 daylight Sheep blinders.
I still need to step up to getting a Zeb for hikes and to have a fair defence against @paul when he forgets it's still on and your feet away lol.
The reactik is mainly for night runs and future endurance racing....

Yep, used a msr windpro 2 last winter- faster but bulkier/ heavy. Prefer Meths stoves as it’s easier to see how much fuel I have . I also find watching a Meths flame on cold dark nights very therapeutic. :)
Winter before I go to sleep I normally set the cone up and place the simmer ring on the burner and let that burn through to warm the drafts.
